Oh, Oh...Windows 10 just became available to me!

Recommended Posts

After 7 days it has not so far. And one update actually HELPED users with a specific issue. Imagine that, an update that actually solved something. (That is for all the automatic update doom and gloom folks.)

I had some improvement on my frame rate, but quite a nasty loss of VAS (400-800MB, depending on the aircraft) and not all programs work without problems, because hardly anything is updated for Win10 yet. I know I'm going back to Win7 for now and give it another try once other software developers had a chance to update their products.

Cheers!

For my knowledge: what other software programs didn't work for you?

FYI, there are a TON of compatibility modes under Win 10.

What about NVIDIA INSPECTOR settings? What about all FSX addons?

I agree with maarten. I'm going to hold off alsong as possible and let everything settle and work itself out. Whats the big rush?

Win 10 a great OS.

I'm enjoying every bit of it, including the additional performance in P3Dv2

Main Simulation Rig:

1. Yes NI needs to be updated. Use the NV Control Panel, even though I know you wont.

2. What about them? I have not read or seen one FSX add-on that doesn't work yet. The worst for me was that GSX needed to be re-activated. That took all of 5 seconds. If you know of others please let me know.

No harm in waiting, but also no harm in updating now, either.

Agreed, jcomm.

Yeh i'm just not sure what to do. I have so many addons and done alot to OS7 to loose it all.

Is there different OS10 to choose from or just the 1? I read somewhere you can choose different packages

Depends on the version you're migrating from:

See here : http://www.microsoft.com/pt-pt/windows/windows-10-specifications

But, from win 7 Starter, Home Basic and Home Premium --> win 10 Home

win 7 Professional or Ultimate -->  win 10 Professional

Hi

I have not read every post in the thread, but I have taken the plunge, and to my total surprise and only referring to fsx and my add ons. everything worked ok. For me it only cleared my default flight, said it could not find one so loaded the default trike. Also the spinning plane when the splash screen starts was missing. Got this back by clicking the DX10 preview option. Not sure if the joystick disable is still a problem as I only use FSUIPC to look after my joystick from when win 8 disabled it mid flight. It kept all my PMDG settings and liveries. Could not be happier with such a major update.

Kind Regards

John Calleja

For my knowledge: what other software programs didn't work for you?

Having problems with ASN, decreasing frame rates by 20fps, where I normally have a decrease of 10-12fps.

NL2000 EHEH decreasing frame rates by 20fps, instead of 10fps.

Plan-G regularly stops responding, I can move my mouse, but everything else is locked and I have to reboot.

CleanMem doesnt always run on schedule.

Some drivers that kept giving errors when installing.

SPAD not starting when Windows starts.

Saitek trim wheel not connecting at startup.

Keyboard not connecting at startup.

No major problems, but still annoying little things. And with the decrease in VAS it wasnt very hard to decide to roll back for now.

Cheers!

Maarten

Not had any problems with ASN.

NL2000 run entirely within FSX and does not interact with the OS.

Had not run my Plan G. Just did with no problems.

Not sure what CleanMem is but looks like an unnecessary utility.

Saiteck working on a fix from a report a few days ago.

Good that you at least tried things out.
