Hey Understand the last point in hte checklist.

 

Dispatch clearance - check...... is this for clearance from groundequitment?

In SOP 2, they use that phrase at that particular airline.

 

It's basically ground equipment clear.  It's a weird phrase I know.  Not sure why they use it.

 

Maybe one of our consultants can chime in.

I want to clarify that I'm just speculating here, but:

 

I fly with (another addon which simulates a segment of airline operations -- not sure if I'm allowed to mention products), and the program goes out of its way to advise you when you're okay (by the program's logic) to depart (among other things).  I haven't asked my airline pilot buddies about this, but I think it's safe to assume that they do some coordinating with dispatch prior to departing the airport.  In FS, this phrase just reminds me to go over to (my other software) and make sure it's satisfied with everything prior to my departure.  In the real world, I would imagine that'd be a check to do something similar with their operations/dispatch folk.  

 

I don't know if it's still a factor today, but a few years ago I heard about certain airlines experiencing frequent ground delays because dispatch would run all of their final numbers after boarding and send them back to the airplane (and sometimes this wasn't as timely as others would like).  Perhaps the contributor to SOP 2 has a similar situation with his or her airline that requires them to get a final "okay" with dispatch before departing.

I just emailed my consultant for SOP2 for a clarification.

 

But I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with "being dispatched" by Operations.
