I promise I'll get back with a few pics, including one of my Pipeline tab.

For now I can tell you that to avoid becoming crazy finding a balance between day and night, I was able to obtain good results by adding the liftgammagain SweetFX shader only for night flying.

What is incredible about this tool is the ability to fine tune the settings down to each individual's perception of reality.

Just to be sure, because this never turned out easy.

 

For a manual installation, you add the 32bit file to the P3D folder and rename it to dxgi.dll right? I assume you also have to add the ReShade.fx and ReShade folder to the P3D main folder, right?

 

Now, when P3D loads in, I get the message saying "Compiling effect....succeded", which goes away after some seconds (I guess thats on purpose). But when I add loads of effects and press apply and scroll lock several times within P3D, nothing happens  :help:

yep, I did try levels at first, but obtained more satisfactory results with liftgammagain. I guess it all depends on what shaders you have activated before and what settings you use on each. But I did try the exact same figure as in your screenshot!  :smile:

 

@Fi5kuS iirc automatic installation in FSX only adds a link to the ReShade.fx in the FSX folder. You can have the Mediator along with the files it comes with when you download it in any position on your hd (I suggest a folder called ReShade where you keep your frequently used programs).

What is it exactly that doesn't work for you with automatic installation?

I use SweetFX for a long time with FSX (DX10) but today decided to give Reshade a try.

 

I deleted all the SweetFX files and started "clean".

 

I followed the instructions and did everything right (I think) but 5 seconds after double clicking the FSX icon I get a "fatal error has occurred" message.

 

If I reset the FSX profile using the Mediator FSX runs OK... 

 

If I copy back the SweetFX files I was using before FSX also runs OK...

 

Any ideas?

My own personal Day/Night time settings.  HDR *MUST* be on in Prepar3D.   These settings are not meant for FSX.  They can be used but as always you will have to tweak it but it is meant for HDR fliers who want Day/Night in one bundle.   Again, as always, this is what I like.   Feel free to tweak till your hands and eyes fall off.

 

Pipelines used:    ADV_MOTION_BLUR - GemFX, LEVELS - SweetFX, TECHNICOLOR - SweetFX (THIS ONE IS VERY IMPORTANT.  I'LL EXPLAIN WHY), BLOOM - SweetFX, HDR - SweetFX, GRAIN - CustomFX

 

Settings and WHY I use them:

 

ADV_MOTION_BLUR by GemFX

Settings: All DEFAULT

 

I personally like Depth of Field and Motion Blur FX in my video games.  It adds a level of realism and a cinematic quality at the same time.   The Advanced Motion Blur, even on Default settings, creates a nice movement blur when you turn your head quickly, erasing the Video Game look entirely when you do quick movements.   Motion blur is smart in this shader and it won't blur everything just because it twitched.   The other blur shader is NOT good because people who use EZDOK or any other program the provides head shake and bumping will greatly effect the blur in the cockpit.   Use THIS ONE instead as it does not detect micro movements and blur them.  It is ONLY looking for rapid movements of the camera.

 

LEVELS by SweetFX

Settings:

     Levels_black_Point: 0

     Levels_white_point:  255

     Levels_highlight_clipping:  0

 

As suggested by others, this is a great starting point for helping to eliminate certain problems in P3D, such as bleached out textures from HDR lighting and darks not being dark where they should be.

 

TECHNICOLOR by SweetFX

Settings:

     TechniAmount:  0.40

     TechniPower: 4.00

     All negativeAmount's default of .88

 

Default FSX and Prepar3D quite frankly have TERRIBLE color palettes out of the box.  They are way to bright and colorful and make the sim look like a video game instead of a simulator.  The Technicolor shader is by far, to me, one of the MOST important shaders to turn on and set right to set your color pallete into a more Real World believable palette.  Everyone of course see's the Real World differently so tweak to what you think is right but USE THIS SHADER.   It is powerful, quick and makes a huge improvement in the color of your world

 

BLOOM by SweetFX

Settings:

     Bloom Threshold:  25.19

     BloomPower:  1.446

     BloomWidth:  0.0142

 

Because I like my light sources to actually glow at night as if I were filming a video in the cockpit.   Adjust to your tastes.  

 

HDR by SweetFX

Settings:

     HDRPower: 1.24

     radius2:  0.87

 

If you get this one wrong your eyeballs will melt out of your head.   HDR *MUST* be turned on in Prepar3D's settings or else not only will your eyes melt but your monitor will catch fire and burn your house down.    This combined with Prepar3D's native HDR engine produces stunning High Dynamic Range imagery on *MY* system.  Your mileage will vary.

 

GRAIN by CustomFX

Settings:  ALL DEFAULT

 

I have always liked having a little bit of grain in my video as it does add False detail to the scene and can give it a more cinematic appearance.   The default grain settings are good for video.   Some may not like how harsh the grain looks in static screen caps such as the ones below.

Definitely a keeper for me. Didn't have enough time to play with it but it does miracles with just small changes. Here's my preset so far with modified LEVELS; LIFTGAMMA/GAIN, TONEMAP, CURVES. This is P3Dv2 with HDR - off

 

 

 

Hi. Finally got ReShade to work and I have been trying to reproduce your settings. Could you be more specific as to what values you have changed?

 

I also like the more brighter and grey version of the VC..

I like the idea of a topic for sharing Reshade settings, but please include the values as well and not just which effects are used.

Might be worth checking your key mappings. I think the default is space bar, and you want to change it to scroll lock.

 

Have a look at common_settings (either cfg file or mediator) and see what the toggle is. Also double check that key isn't mapped to something in your sim.

Thank you. I like it too but i think i'll play more with 'levels' and 'curves' as i need more contrast. Please note, that it doesn't look so 'cosy' with more 'dramatic' sky themes.

Hi guys.

I am bit late here. I use ReShade and MasterEffect, no SweetFX (it does not work for me on W10).

So everything works ok but I noticed one thing, on FSX start up the Welcome page is blank now, all other pages are fine. I wonder if anybody has/had similar issue.
