How to uninstall totally and reinstall?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

After Win 10 upgrade FSX SE does not start anymore (Microsoft popup) , FSX SE was running like a charm on Win 8.1.

What is the best procedure to uninstall FSX SE totally and do a clean install for FSX SE?

Do I need to buy a new licence?

Thanks in advance.

Your problem may be the video drivers.  What I would do first is uninstall the video drivers ,reboot, and then reinstall the latest drivers for your video card.   Try it out.  Should it not fix the problem, proceed to other troubleshooting.

Do you use a laptop with an Intel Card as well as an Nvidia card? I had a black screen issue even after installing the latest Nvidia Windows 10 driver. I found the Intel HD 4600 Driver was wiped and had to re-install. Screen issue was fixed.

Hello,

In my opinion it is NOT a video/screen problem.

When I start FSX SE I receive the window "Microsoft Flight Simulator Steam Edition" as usual and immediately after 2 popups and the 2nnd is "Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped Working   A problem caused the program ...and notify you if a solution is available"

In the "event Viewer" I read

fsx.exe

      10.0.62615.0

      559f9a9a

      ntdll.dll

      10.0.10240.16430

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\fsx.exe

      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

Faulting module : NTDLL.dll

I do not have SE, just FSX.  But after installing Win 10 I am having problems keeping it running  more than 5 minutes. then it freezes and  I get the same message you do.  I also installed the latest Nvidia driver for Win 10.  Why would MS design an OS that will not work with its own programs (FSX)?

Were you using FSX with DX10 checked before your upgrade. FSX will only run under Windows 10 in DX10 preview.

FSX will defintely run fine in Win 10 without DX10 preview selected. Only issue in DX 9 for some (not all) is that the select aircraft preview screen is black.

My whole screen was black and nothing I could see to do.

Hello,

I have a dual boot Win 10 I did install FSX SE from scratch on the other partition and FSX SE works ...

I delete FSX SE from the old Steam folders ...

Have a nice day
