fsx-se REX buying advice?

Hi.

 

I'm want REX because it seems to be the software everyone uses to get the best cloud textures, but I am a little confused because there are four different versions of the program on the store. Does REX include weather simulation? Because I already have active sky next for weather.

 

 

Any help is appreciated.

If you already have ASN, get REX 4 Texture Direct. It's the latest version and does not include the weather engine. You could also consider adding REX Soft Clouds which fully integrates with Texture Direct and gives more, volumetric-looking, low/medium level cloud textures. Both great add-ons.

I use REX Soft Clouds with ASN and works pretty good.  Soft Clouds just injects the cloud theme you want and ASN does the rest.  I think some may say that Soft Clouds are too soft and don't accurately reflect all cloud types, depending on weather, but if you are looking for a good weather solution and better cloud textures at a reasonable cost, these two are satisfactory.

Yes, but be aware that Soft Clouds is limited to "Low/Mid-level 3D clouds".

 

Texture Direct includes additional Low/Mid-level clouds, High-level clouds, water, textures runway textures, etc.

 

Should you decide to get Soft Clouds first, you can integrate Soft Clouds into the Texture Direct app later.

You could buy soft clouds and use HDEv2 (freeware) for cirrus clouds and better sky textures.
