Upgrade to Windows 10?

Recommended Posts

Tried Windows 10 but had to revert back to 7.  Couldn't fix a mouse issue that I had and there isn't a version of Windows Aero that works in the new OS.  I use Aero in conjunction with pseudo full-screen which boosts my FPS.

In what world does Aero boost performance? I know Aero looks nice, and I'm sad that it was removed in 10, but it does NOT improve performance at all... It's even disabled in W7 when you start FSX (non Steam edition).

There was a person on a P3D Facebook page a couple of days ago blasting me because I would not install windows 10 on my system when Windows 7 works perfectly. He called me everything but stupid because of my stance. Well just now he posted that his Windows 10 clean install totally crashed and now he is having to do another complete install of everything.

In my world.  I use Aero Enabler after starting FSX or P3D and it makes a world of difference for me with the aforementioned apps.

I just updated to Windows 10 without any problems at all. (well, a little hassle that was easily sorted out).
My 2x versions of Fs2004 work perfectly. They actually seem a little quicker to load as well.
The second version was a clean copy of fs2004 that I had on my prtable drive that I just dumped straight into the C: drive.

The only littlle problem, probably just me, was when FS9 loaded, it came up with a ' DirectPlay' error. I clicked ok, the notice went away & FS9 started.
DirectPlay is needed for networking, & the Network Setting in FS2004 was greyed out
This was easily sorted out by going to:
Settings, Programs & Features, Turn Windows features on or off,Legacy Components, DirectPlay.
It took quicker to do than to explain! You might need to do this sequence 2-3 times.
Network Setting no longer greyed out!

So, not one other issue.

Oh, & I have 1x version of FS9 installed in it's default Program Files directory, & another in C:\ root
