Intermittent Sound Problems

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have just started flying the Majestic Q400 but am having some severe sound problems when trying to use FS2Crew. Whenever I try and carry out the Audio Test I either hear nothing with the words "CHECK VOL" appearing in the window or I hear the test intermittently with the words swapping between "CHECK VOL" and "AUDIO TEST".

I been through the entire troubleshooting section of the manual and can confirm that all is set as it should be.

I've tried using both the Asus Xonar DGX sound card and the Motherboard on board sound and get the same results with either. Also if I try and run any of the briefings I again get either nothing or intermittent sound.

I'm sure this is something to do with my setup, but do not have the computing knowledge to fix it.

Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

Regards,

Mick

Hi Mick,

Check Vol:  Ensure the audio panel selectors on the Dash 8 are setup as per the FS2Crew manual.

The volume controls are connected directly to the aircraft volume controls.

Please look at the "Taking a first look" section here:

Hi,

Thanks for the reply but as I said, the issue I am having is an intermittent one and not directly related to the aircraft volume control, which I have confirmed as being green and turned fully up.

I have checked all my aircraft settings and they are correct. The Audio Test is giving me mixed results. I have tried a full uninstall and re install of both aircraft and FS2Crew but I am still getting the same intermittent results.

Sometimes the A Test plays fine, other times I hear nothing or just bits of it with the display window swapping between Check Vol and Audio Test..

I don't have any problems with anything other add ons, only this one.

I really would appreciate help to solve this.

Regards,

Mick

Sounds like a hardware issue if it's intermittent.

Try updating your audio drivers.

Check the troubleshooting section in the manual.

Hi,

I've tried re installing my audio drivers, but still the same.

The thing I find most strange is that absolutely everything else that runs on my PC including all the other add on's work absolutely fine. It's just this Majestic FS2Crew that's giving me these issues, so how can it be hardware at fault?

I've been through the whole troubleshooting manual and nothing helps.

Hi Mick,

I suspect hardware  because our user base is in the thousands and this is something we don't hear about I'm afraid.

Can you isolate why the sounds work sometimes, but not other times?

I'd start by running FSX with no other programs running in the background to try to isolate it.

Also, ensure your audio device is not disconnecting.

Even if it disconnects for a micro second, you'll lose audio.

I suspect this may be your issue.

You can re-initialize the system by toggling the VOICE button off then on.

Good day everyone,

I'm having the same problem with intermittent sound.

I use the Airbus voice and also the 737reboot without problems.

I will try tomorrow reinitializing sound once started too.

I'll report back

Bryan,

Once again, thanks for the answer. Unfortunately I'm away on business for the next two days so won't be able to try anything until Thursday.

As soon as I get back I'll give it a go as you suggest and report back.

It's also interesting to hear that someone else is having the same problem.

Regards,

Mick

Same problems de-activating via Voice button and reactivating.

My FS2Crew sounds goes and get back. I can hear only 1 phrase in a complete checklist.

I don't know what could be the problem.

I use the Airbus and 737 without any issue.

Hi Brian,

thanks for the link. I can confirm that when I switch my VRInsight MCP2 off everything works fine so it is definitely something to do with this particular piece of hardware that is causing the issues.

Here's hoping the Scott manages to sort something out as it's a shame not being able to use my MCP with the Q400.

Regards,

Mick
