Optimising Samsung SSDs for FS

Recommended Posts

Yes, there are several tabs in WinPatrol, including startup items and scheduled tasks, which can be removed at will.

I'll have to read up again about the 10% If it's really prolonging the loife of the SSD, then perhaps so much the better.

Don't remove (delete) the Magician in Task Scheduler... it will only be scheduled again the next time you open Magician. Just disable the task. Done!

I don't bother with the 10% provisioning. Most of what we do with these drives is reads, so the drives will last a long time (in almost all cases we'll upgrade them before they die).

I don't have the PC yet, so will have a look at the 10% provision when I get it. I assume that you could start with having it there and remove it later, if space becomes an issue?

Having never used the Over Provisioning option of Magician, all I can offer is this warning from the OP page:

NOTE: Using a RAW partition may damage your data. OP can be set or cleared only for the last accessible partition.

If you're really interested in using OP I would recommend doing more research on the option before buying. Personally, I see no reason to use it, especially on a Pro model drive.
