No co-pilot response on re-install into fsx-se in Win10

Recommended Posts

Hi .... first point is the non-response is not total i.e. when i bring up the ATC menu and press a key to contact the controller the co-pilot acknowledges that .... but ignores any requests I make for aircraft settings in cockpit ... have checked my mike working properly and it appears to be .... something i notice when i bring up the speech recognition window is the only language option is 'English UK' ... should i not be running  'English US'??? ... NB it would appear the install picked up the fact of my previous install as i wasn't presented with the set-up wizard ... all i was prompted to do was re-activate .... incidentally, in win7 i could click on the start icon and scroll down to the MCE folder and access all the wizards, kill button etc ... any way to do this in Win10??? ....

The start menu is back in Windows 10 albeit with subtle changes. It's darker for a start and you have to find the scroll bar which is the tricky bit.

Alternatively, use the Windows 10 search feature an type.

"run app wizard"

"Kill MCE"

"assign sound device" and it should bring up the tools.

Yes, before you can use MCE, your speech engine must be switched to English US.

The English US speech engine is a free download and unlike with Windows 7 or earlier, it is available to any Windows 10 localized installation.

Search for "Add language pack" or something like that.

'Search for "Add language pack" or something like that'.... would it were that easy, I've spent some considerable time trawling but getting nowhere with this ... with the introduction of Win10 isn't this an issue that will affect many people?? ...  ergo some kind of change to the software may have to be considered to accomodate the fact of en-UK being the sole option with this OS??? ... can't believe I'm alone in facing it????

Having finally tracked down the required voice pack I finally get up and running with MCE ... all going swimmingly until the weekend ... when I start the sim I am presented with an error box suggesting I either disable the program starting with FSX or remove it completely .... I have tried both options and am going nowhere fast ...

What MCE version do you have installed?

Thanks

Sig[1].Value=10.0.62615.0

This suggests you're on Steam very latest version. Latest package has only been tested up to 10.0.62613

It doesn't mean it won't work though, just not tested yet.

Will update this week and let you know.

Meanwhile...

Ensure you have fsInsider.dll V2.6.54 in FSX Steam installation folder.

Tell all your anti-virus, anti-malware not to monitor "fsx.exe" (this is different from excluding a folder for scanning. It's the process that should be excluded)

Malwarebytes and Bitdefender are known to cause issues.

Try again.

Feel a little in limbo with this issue .... should I be optimistic that a solution may be possible????

Of course. Might take a week or two to pin down.

Meanwhile, please list all add-ons used that have a reference in "dll.xml" file (only add-ons that get FSX to load a dll on startup. Not interested in scenery and such)

dll.xml can be found under C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE\

If you are confident editing that file, you may want to re-arrange the order in which dlls load and put fsInsider.dll at the top (not the top of the file. And make a backup first)

Are you using any AI package?

Do you have FSX boxed installed or just Steam Edition?

Go to C:\Windows\winsxs\ folder and search for "Simconnect.dll"

How many versions do you have installed?

connect' doesn't happen then after a bit I get the box which starts with: 'Could not retrieve FS data ....'

This suggests for some reason FSX-SE isn't loading fsInsider.dll

Sorry didn't get whatever you posted earlier.

Do you have another simulator installed (FSX boxed, P3D or even FS9) that would help work out whether it is that particular FSX-SE installation that is the factor, or something amiss with the dll.

Would it be possible to temporarily move AI traffic to another location, just to rule that one out?

The configuration app kicks in because it assumes maybe "dll.xml" isn't edited to include "fsInsider.dll" or something might be wrong with setup.

You don't have to go through it every time. Just click <Cancel> as soon as it opens up.

Need to check whether fsInsider.dll is getting loaded or not.

Go to FSX-SE installation folder.

Replace fsInsider.ini using the file shipping with downloaded package. By default, the installer never replaces it.

If still no-go, open "fsInsider.ini", change "Debug=0" to "Debug=1" and save.

Start FSX-SE, and following crash or not, you should find a new file "fsInsider.log" in there

If the file isn't generated, it's either some access rights permission to folder (file creation privilege denied) or the dll isn't loading at all.

Other things to try....

Save your "dll.xml" file somewhere.

Go to \Multi Crew Experience\Support\ folder

Copy file "dll.xml" which is set to load "fsInsider.dll" exclusively

Replace your active "dll.xml" and try again.

FSX-SE the only flightsim I have on my machine.Tried to generate the log file but none materializes ....

Suggest you get in touch with support. We have a few custom dlls for you to try out. At least to ensure the dll is loading, which isn't obvious at this stage. Thanks
