Backup before SkyMaxx v2 install...

Recommended Posts

Anyone knows what folders / configuration files I should save before installing SMP v2 ?

I know I will want to keep it, but just in case I want to revert back to default clouds, what's the minimal backup required ?

José,

Doesn't SkyMaxx backup the files on it's own? At least that's what I thought it did. Anyways, if you want to revert back to default clouds, just remove Skymaxx and the next time you update X-Plane your default clouds should be restored.

And if you want to go back and forth without uninstalling, just disable your Silverlining plug-in.

Thx John!

Great hint!  Now I can switch between cloud rendering in a click :-)

Among other things, great to measure how much more FPS we gain with SMP vs default clouds depending on cloud coverage / density.

It does replace some minor files like the sky colours etc.. But running the X-Plane updater seems to replace them back again. It's never been a problem and it's easy to disable by disabling the plugin and restarting X-Plane

Yes, disabling the plugin works beautifully.

But then, each time I run the XP updater I lose those sky colors ?  Should I run the SMP installer again then ?

Just say "no" when the updater asks to overwrite files within "skycolors" folder and you'll be fine :)
