Hi

I have just been there but it was no help at all. This problem arose after avsim bought FS9 or so it seems.

Don't loose faith, Tim; I'm sure one of the "9ers" will be able to help you...

Windows 7 Professonal.  I reinstalled FS9 and it seems to be okay now.  So far so good you might say.  Thanks for chiming in Skinner and Kingm56..........John.

Hello again it seems that the MSVCR70.dll problem is back again.  I am wondering if this  is by design to stop us from running FS9 anymore.  I had FS9 working fine last night but when I tried to start it this morning up came that confounded message again.  Now it seems impossible to get it going any more. Any help would be gratefully recieved please................John

msvcr70.dll is part of a Visual C++ runtime library. It may have been installed by the FS9 disk.

Are you running a virus checker or some kind of auto runtime driver app (third party) that might be removing it? MS Win update checker?

I have (without FS9 on it yet) W7Pro-64 and in system32 and syswow64 I have several versions of msvcr installed.

If you installed it from a download site as other than a direct download, it might have had something like adware buried in it that a virus checker removed.

I downloaded it from:

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr70

using the download zip button. (I recommend you do not use the auto fixer as that may install adware.) There are two versions, one from year (the earlier) and one from year 2013. Both checked out OK  in Norton AV.

The readme in the zip tells you where to put that file and that's system32 in both Win 7-64 and 7-32..

The earlier version is probably on the FS9 CD and the later from an MS update. The earlier has less code in it.

It is possible that perhaps some other install which adds the VCC runtime package deleted it. If so, that's pretty much malware as far as I am concerned.

Keep the version you want also in a backup folder somewhere not under any windows folder.

Hi Ronzie

Thanks for jumping in. I did what you told to do and I now am missing MFC70.DLL and I am thinking that this could go on for ever.  A never ending circle untill I disappear up my own butt right? :wink: ...John

Same solution, otherwise:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24417 (visual basic runtime - x86)

or

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5582 (visual c++ runtime x-86)

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=2092 (visual c++ runtime x-64)

These should give all of the system runtime components. Unless you have an AMD processor, don't use the available ia64 version.

Here is the search term results:
