Lite or Heavy Aircraft

Recommended Posts

How does Opus camera and buttkicker distinguish between lite and heavy aircraft?

I assume it is weight but where does it look for that info and what is the cutoff point?

Thanks,

gb.

You configure the aircraft type (light or heavy) in the DHM settings. These are associated on a camera by camera basis when Live Camera is used. Hence the effects depend on the selected camera view.

Looks like I misinterpreted these settings completely wrong.

I thought Opus was crating a general set of light planes and another of heavies then

using some specific aircraft weight to decide whether a particular plane was heavy or light.

Thanks for the clarification.

You're welcome gb.

The captured accelerometer data for 'Light' aircraft generally has more pronounced turbulence, engine vibration, taxiing bumps, etc.. I generally chose light for all piston aircraft and heavy for jet aircraft.

I'm investigating the possibility of incorporating thermal, lift, and sink effects. If it proves feasible then I will have to factor in aircraft weight. In which case I could provide an Auto DHM option to automatically select light or heavy based on weight criteria.

That would be pretty cool.

Hope you can do it.
