sli weird behavior

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I used to run p3d 2.5 with win 8.1 64 and two 780ti in sli.
It was still the period of the AFR-FriendlyD3D trick.
At this time, i had a nice improvment in sli configuration.

I changed my cards for two 980ti, the new nvidia driver with p3d sli profile came out, and now my p3d has no improvment at all with sli on. The fps are exactly the same with or without sli activated.
In msi afterbuner, i can see that the two cards are working but not a fps more...

Weird thing isnt'it ?

Is anybody has the same problem ?

Thanks

P3D 2.5 is not SLI compatible.

Where have you been? P3D 2.5 is most certainly SLI compatible and has been for several driver versions.

OP - generally speaking SLI does not usually result in increased framerates. Smoother operation, lower GPU temps etc but not necessarily framerate increase.

For example - say you run at 30fps but when you go into heavy clouds near a dense airport during a thunderstorm, your FPS drops to 20. With SLI in the same situation you may see the FPS *STAY* at 30 , so in a way you could say you had an increase - but your general fps would remain at 30.

thanks for the answer, but when i had my two 780ti in sli i did have fps improvments... With the same scene at the same place, i had much more fps with the 780ti's than the 980ti's

I did some sli testing with 3dmark and others games, and the sli works fine... in sli mode the two cards are running at 25%, i feel like the cpu is bottlenecking somewhere... i checked with cpuz, when p3d is running, i have 4.6ghz... so no problem either...

If you search this forum for sli you will notice other issues as well. For instance right mouse click on screen and hitting the menubar will async the performance. Also undocking displays like pfd. Nd. Fmc etc will give single or half fps as well. Hopefully this will be fixed later.

I am having the above issues as well.

yes i noticed this unync sli stuff with alt-tab too.

I think i will wait for a new nvidia driver, or a new p3d version to see if there is some changes for my setup... ;)

i should have keep my 2 780ti, p3d was running very fine... :(

My 780's were running fine but I switched to 970's and they are running just fine also. Don't know WHY it works for me and some others but not everybody.

Just lucky I guess.
