English UK to English US

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm having problems with selecting the speech recognition language from English UK to English US.

I am using windows 10 and have downloaded the English US pack from Microsoft but I cannot select it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Callum.

Do you see English US in the drop down menu?

Click on the bar that say English UK and you should see English US assuming you installed the English US region pack.

No. I installed the US pack, restarted the computer but English US doesn't appear in the dropdown menu.

Did you reboot your computer?

Are you sure you installed the English US pack properly?

Yeh, I have rebooted and I have just uninstalled and reinstalled the US pack. I still can't select US in the dropdown list :(

We have zillions of Brit users here.

Anyone have any idea where he's going wrong?

Please double check this page:

I seem to have figured it out.

Language installation seems to be different in Windows 10.

Quote Microsoft website:

'Applies to Windows 10

  1. Go to Settings > Time & language > Region & language.

  2. Select Add a language.

  3. Select the language you want to use from the list, then choose which region's version you want to use. Your download will begin immediately.'

Then you must click 'options' and then click 'download' under the 'speech' category.
