How do I point my previously addons to FSX SE

Recommended Posts

the only thing that is preventing me on getting FSX SE is the thought  of losing all my  add-ons or having  to reinstall them all again is there anyway around this guys?

It depends how much stuff you have, but it was no hardship for me really.  I did it in separate sittings, as it is best not to install too many in one go.

I did hear of a program of the sort you want, but I think it might be to go from FSX to P3D actually, I can't remember now.  I think it might create payware registration problems trying to duplicate payware into the two FSX  versions.  And as for the licensing technicalities, That would be a minefield and would probably vary across the different products anyway.

As a tip, I uninstalled my old FSX install, as I will never go back to it.  FSX:SE with its fixes, optimisations, and with Steves DX10 fixer is awesome running in DX10 mode!

If you uninstall FSX, 90% of the add-ons automatically find FSX:SE, and the ones that don't, you just direct them to the FSX:SE root folder.  Not had any problems myself.  Loving it!

I have heard side by side installation of FSX and FSX:SE can create a few issues with some add-on installer programs, but is possible (and with P3D even).

However, uninstalling FSX after installing FSX:SE doesn't necessarily fix the issues; it is too late then.  Best to do some reading on the internet and then make your choice.

Personally, I have had no problems uninstalling FSX Acceleration, then putting on a clean install of FSX:SE.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.
