August 12, 200520 yr By crikey, I'm glad that I am not a freeware developer - LIC has just raised the bar by several notches IMO. Thanks for the wonderful Eagle, LIC. Unfortunately, however , this new freeware a/c is now the new "standard". As an end user, I am really pleased about that -- but , as I said, I'm glad I'm not a developer. For anybody who doesn't understand what I am raving about, run to the new Cristen Eagle by LIC (liceagii.zip). Just everything about it is outstanding - external model, VC, sounds, Gauge smoothness!!! Did I mention the gauge smoothness? In case you didn't hear me -- DON'T FORGET THE GAUGE SMOOTHNESS!But where do these gauges come from ? They don't appear to be the standard type gauges contained in the panel.cfg file-- are they part of the Gmax model? If so, that will be the end of our fun swapping gauges around in different panels - but if this is how future a/c are to be, then who cares. I'm happy!!Barry
August 12, 200520 yr It's a great release! Have they done other planes that I should be checking out? I am not familiar with them, but not for long after flying this!Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]
August 12, 200520 yr You know an aircraft is good when several threads are opened singing its praises :)Don't forget spins--most realistic spin I've ever seen in an add on.-John
August 12, 200520 yr Do you know that the instruments in the external views aren't bitmaps but you can see them realy working ?Very, very nice work Kevin! Hugo
August 12, 200520 yr >It's a great release! Have they done other planes that I>should be checking out? I am not familiar with them, but not>for long after flying this!LIC has also released Bellanca Scouts and Decathlons and an Aeronca L-16. All of them are in the Avsim library.
August 12, 200520 yr Yep it's a great little plane, top notch fun...Luckily it's that developing freeware planes beside satisfying your quality standard produces also ordinary pleasure for the freeware developer. Raising the standard is not the only goal of making freeware aircrafts...I'd rather see payware developers continually raising the bar....

Don't you recall reading the raves about guage smoothness in every thread about those fantastic add-ons? That's what we were all talking about...Yes, the guages are part of the model - which explains why there is no 2D panel at all. It is possible to still include a 2D panel but it adds to the development workload and is a bit pointless in a plane designed to be flown from the VC.

I've searched the avsim library for the SF260 and the Spitfire but can't find them. Are you sure they're freeware? ;-) Ulf B
August 12, 200520 yr LOL, sorry I wasn't aware there was some sort of magic force-field around payware releases that prevented information about them from being seen by those not interested in them.
August 12, 200520 yr this is the third distinct posting about this aircraft, specifically the panel and the VC. However, what I find interesting is there is not a single screen shot of such, wonder why? CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K
August 12, 200520 yr Mine have been in the screenshot forum for days, Mike. Don't you>recall reading the raves about guage smoothness in every>thread about those fantastic add-ons? That's what we were all>talking about...:) Oh yes, I read all the posts - but I did think that this new development would be a closely guarded secret that would only be available in Realair a/c. I didn't purchase either the Spitfire or the SF260 as they are not really "my kind" of a/c - so I never got to appreciate this new technology. Now, the Cristen Eagle is also probably not my kind of a/c either -- but maybe now that the gauge smoothness has found it's way into the freeware world, perhaps it will now also find it's way into other a/c ( freeware or payware) that suit me more. :) Either way, as I said in my original post, I believe that the bar has been raised and look further to further developments.Barry
August 12, 200520 yr Well, technically speaking, the thing that is so nice about this "panel and VC" is the smoothness of motion found in the guages - something which would of course not be particularly impressive in a screenshot.
August 12, 200520 yr http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v316/wic...ION/Eagle_1.jpgYup,amazing aircraft.Whatda you know,a pilot that really looks like a person instead of those block-head people that look like their off the Dire Straits "I want my MTV" video. You know the original Flight Unlimited had gauges that were baby butt smooth like these except that was ten years ago with computers running P90-P100.BTW,can the engine be started with the switch? I couldn't get it to go,had to use CTRL-E.David
