Prepar3d V3 Release date Wednesday 30th September

Kind of worries me that JV states that all global Orbx products work without changes in v3, yet he is talking about installers being released in "the next couple of months"...

No need for worries: the new installers are ONLY needed to automatically find v3 on your system and install everything in the right folders. The add ons themselves need no changing at all. (Well, apart from the airport add ons maybe, which may need some attention. But Global, OpenLC, the regions, etc. all work without problems.)

Well having read the comments up to now and the new features offered for Version 3 from the Lockheed Martin website I think I am going to sit on the fence quietly and see what everyone has to say about it after it's release tomorrow  ....

It will be interesting reading I'm sure!!

any significant improvement to VAS management in v3 is like a tin of tuna to a hungry cat.

Lol - you should work with LM marketing Chris...

Me too. Since I won't have the time anyway to reinstall everything and since I am not interested in using v3 until Orbx and A2A have released v3 compatible installers, I will also sit on the fence and read everything there is to read. I'll purchase v3 when the news is good and the add ons are up to date.

I have to add that a lot of times I spend more time TALKING about flightsimming than actually FLYING so I am looking forward to the coming days anyway...!

If I'm doing my arithmetic correct, but for a developer license:

 - $9.95 per month for 2 copies of P3D v3, for a 24 month cycle, is about $240, while two copies of P3D v3 will be about $400. Hmm, I think I know which way to go here.

Remember that you're not just paying for new features in v3 but also for about 2 years of updates to that version.  If you've already spent $2000+ on add-ons and hardware like me than supporting LM a bit more is a no brainer.

Alternatively you could also entrust your investments to Dovetail and wait for them to develop the platform further. I'll stick with Prepar3d.

I am amazed that there are people who pays 20-30 bucks for a wing flex, few sounds or few more trees, but don't want to spend 60 bucks on 238 bugfixes and new features. Yes, 238 - I counted them for you.

And you all are missing one valid point, from the Prepar3D website:

All future updates to Prepar3D platform will be for Prepar3D v3. Prepar3D v3 brings many new and exciting enhancements.

Please keep an eye on Prepar3D.com in the coming days for additional features.

So there will be more features coming with free patches.

Excellent work!  I couldn't agree more, I believe my money is going to good use sticking with L-M.

Oh please, having flown in the real world for decades, default ATC is beyond ridiculous. Going from point A to point B 150 miles apart, real ATC does not change your heading by 30 degrees, multiple times, in first one direction and then the other. You can't fly out of a major  airport without being on a SId or having a star assigned on arrival in the real world. Just flying  around VFR, it's OK, but anything else, it is totally absurd

You are no doubt correct about SIDs and STARs, and I should have made it clear that I was referring to low level VFR flight. Nevertheless, I stand by my comment that the default ATC in that department is perfectly fine (and evidently lots of other flight simmers feel the same way). I just use "Flight following" after leaving tower controlled airspace, and then contact the tower of the next airport when I am around 15 miles out. IMO, the phraseology and general quality of the ATC voices is perfectly adequate. Some people say that it sounds too "robotic", but I disagree. Anyway, it does the job for someone who just likes to pootle around enjoying the scenery

Default frame rates are very close with a GTX 980TI. Unfortunately, P3d is all loaded up with addons on my rig and XP10 has virtually none. I suggest that you consult the XP10 forum here, as people with mesh, weather and other addons experience performance declines that seem to be about the same as those in P3d, to the casual observer (me). I'll let you know more in the future.

Very nice news form LM.

Long time I wasn't that excited before a release! :--))

No problem here paying for a new license, this is definitely understandable from LM point of view.

But I would be more reluctant if third parties charge us for addons compatibility this time.

For most of us, it's not $60, it's $200. And since when to we pay for bug fixes? For those that bought 2.5, does that mean they payed for buggy software and you get what you get?? Buy it again if you want it to work? That's a joke, and not the way you run a business. This seems more like a v2.6 to me, with most of the list being bug fixes.
