Does P3D 3 = P3D 2.6?

Recommended Posts

A very disappointing release.

I see nothing here to justify a new premium, and won't be upgrading.

Are we really so desperate for a new FS solution that we'll accept a few bugfixes as an excuse to screw us for another fee?

I'll stick with 2.5.

A great shame: since a really good step forward for FSim might have created a fantastic profit opportunity for those in the biz, too.

Was it really necessary to start a new topic for this...? Seriously...

Do you have V3 installed and have you used it?  Don't recall seeing you on the Beta Team.

Cheers, Rob.

Sorry, but if you really think it's v2.6... you simply have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. There are sooo many changes to Prepar3D v3 that aren't simply on a list of 'things';. Many of them you'd not even care to learn about, but they're there and they make a major difference in the product in many ways.

The bug list isn't the only thing that was changed about the product... it's just the only thing about the product's changes you understand.

Here's the beauty of the thing. If you don't think it's worthwhile, don't buy it. All of your current addons will continue to work in 2.5. I would think that most new software would be backward compatible with earlier versions.

No I don't have v3.  Nor do I see a straightforward thread here about the new upgrade being less than a Point release - which is exactly why I thought a separate new thread might be useful.

Really, is there no room for dissent here?  There is nothing here to justify a full price/no upgrade path approach.

So I will do the "don't buy it" thing.  That surely doesn't mean I can't express a view about it.

Give me 64bit.  I'll pay what you like.  Give me a few tweaks and ask me to pay full whack?  I will not.  And I am a P3D supporter. But not at any cost.

You truly don't know that at all. It's your assumption based on misperceptions made by others with regards to a list of changes. That list isn't comprehensive and most definitely doesn't show all that has changed.

This is not a point release, by any standard.

Of course there is room for dissent.

But it seems there's not enough room in here for your opinion, if no one is allowed to dissent from it?

Should I instead state I dissent your dissent and raise you an assertion???

Right now I'm about 80/20 on upgrading. I want to see how big the frame improvements are, but since I'm eligeble for the discounted license I will probably just go for it anyway.

But seriously, please stop complaining about the price... It is actually very cheap when you think about it.

1 night at Casino or nice restaurant = 3 hours and $200-$300 = $100/hour

1 P3D V3 license (orbx and PMDG upgrades will be free) = 500 hours and $200 = $0.4/hour

I'm just curious at how you can formulate this opinion without actually trying V3?  Refund policy is the same as before with V2, buy a license, if you don't find value in V3, get a refund.

Cheers, Rob.

Look there are very few people I take notice of on most forums.Rob is one of the few I trust to give an honest opinion.if he says it's worth it..then that's enough for me..not Brownosing, just saying what I believe.i had a quick look at the list of fixes and improvements and coupled with Robs opinion of it ...I'm in ...can't wait for the release tomorrow.

There sure is but I think that there's little appetite--and rightfully so--of people clowning around over something they don't even have yet.

p.s. Can't believe I just fed the troll.

Philip, can you point to where I said my opinion was the only one?

My "dissent" point was made because 5 out of the 5 immediate responses to my OP were "why post this" - please read them again.  5 out of 5.

It's depressing, when you make a pretty obvious point (like, the new release is disappointing), that you are met with "don't post this" in response to your complaint.
