ORBX just released P3D v3.0 installers for Global and OpenLC Europe

Featured Replies

Yep, that did the trick. Thank you so much, it works now!  I have to wonder though, why there is nowhere an info about activating FTX Global in FTX Central, neither in Central nor in the ORBX forums. I didn't give "Apply Region" any thought, because I had no regional ORBX packages installed, so I viewed this button as irrelevant. I have also installed the newest orbxlibs to be on the safe side.

Actually there is - in the panel literature that pops up while you are installing. It also reinforces that the last thing you do every time, is install the library files.

Normally this will be prompted by opening FTX Central.

The OpenLC Europe 1.20 installer has been updated to a single installer for the whole region, instead of four separate installers

On my download page I still see 4 part downloads for Europe LC.

Am I missing something here?

Hello

there are four parts to download and when you will unzip you will find 19 folders with one installer

To be more precise, 19 files which are numbered from 2 to 20, one Important Read Me!.txt and one OrbxFTXopenLC_EU120.exe.

After unzipping all 4 folders, I had serious trouble trying to install FTX Open_LC EU from the 4th folder (where the install file is). During the install, all stopped up when asking to "insert disk 2" or manually point to a file causing the halt.

But it all went smooth and without problem when I first manually moved all 19 files to the same folder as the installer, and then ran it from there. This as a HU if other should run into the same problem

Then manually installed the ORBXlibs released today with the new v3-installer with no problems. FTX Central 2 now recognize all newly installed ORBX stuff for v3, and no more keeps messing about the latest ORBXlibs not being installed

Are NA Northern California and PNW  regions compatible with v3?

I personally will not be re using ftx vector due to the fact it adds something like 700+ mb of vas and will most likely cause issues with Out Of Memory Errors unless they have optimized it for v3.

Thinking the same thing.

Ran a small test yesterday with FTX Global installed + FlyTampa Copenhagen, ASN, REX4, Soft Clouds, 2048 textures, high autogen etc. Parked at gate with the PMDG 777 + GSX running, VAS showed 2700 MB. Brace yourself - In P3D 2.5, it ALWAYS showed 3400 MB VAS used (granted with OpenLC + Vector as well). So looking forward to test with OpenLC now.

So what are you using for the accurate render of coastlines, rivers etc? Are you able to use the Ultimate Terrain Europe package with FTX Global?

Your results are encouraging. I 'm looking forward to being able to complete a 777 flight again

Nothing. Just FTX Global for now. Tried downloading OpenLC yesterday but couldn't get into that freaking flightsimstore site.

Yeah vas has definitely been improved with v3. I'm personally just happy with Global and maybe Open LC depending on your results so let me know how it goes:)

Anyone know if FTX HD Trees updated for v3 is in the near-term pipeline?

The UTX series of products work perfectly with FTX Global. It's FTX Vector that it is not compatible with. Personally, I use GEXP3D and UTX but have the ORBX regions - PNW,NCA, etc. Get the best of both.
