October 13, 201510 yr Can someone please help me remove this grey band on the horizon? My RTH settings are as shown. I don't see this in any other XP screen shots and RTH examples!
October 17, 201510 yr I have tried RTH several times over the years and while others might like what it does, I don't. I think that is the source of your problem, but, as I said, I don't currently use it because of its propensity to do things like that. John John Wingold
October 17, 201510 yr I think it's just the way X-Plane depicts the sky's visibility limit. If you're thinking it looks a bit naff then I have to concur!

The grey band is the visibility limit of the DSF tile. Turn on extended DSF and the grey band will be smaller and farther along the horizon ! October 21, 201510 yr Hi Guys. I had this a few weeks ago and it turned out to be my SkyMax Pro setting "Overcast quality" was set to low. I changed it to high and the grey bar was replaced with some wonderful overcast. I think medium will work too.Give it a try if you are using SMP. Dennis Dennis Elliott
October 21, 201510 yr Author Tell us how it works out. John Well, of course without RTH there's no horizon band (as expected), but I lose the realistic blue tinting. Google Earth's implementation is one of the best and I'm trying to replicate it in either P3D or XPX. But XPX has RTH which gets me pretty close... except for the banding. October 22, 201510 yr willywonka. I have set my sky max pro settings back to low overcast,but I have not encountered this grey band yet. If I do I will take a screen shot and then change the settings back to high to see if that fixes it,but until then it just may be a coincidence. I will post back if get this grey band again. October 22, 201510 yr Do yourself a favour. 1. Get yourself the dataref editor plugin (http://www.xsquawkbox.net/xpsdk/mediawiki/DataRefEditor). 2. Scoot on over to youtube and watch these two videos 3. Go and read Murmer's post on using the art controls to edit the default clouds to get them much more realistic. (http://www.avsim.com/topic/474978-still-experimenting-with-clouds/) 4. Turn off SkyMaxx and RTH. 5. Sit back in all the glory that is your personalised settings, just the way you like it! Optional 6. Stick the settings you like in a .lua script to automate the settings process on startup.
