October 30, 201510 yr I love the old lady too. You are right, looking from today, the details are not "state of the art", but compared to a lot of other FS products released in the last ten years from other developers, the MD11 is miles ahead. The systems are acruate simulated and you can feel like a real MD11 pilot. Yes, a weather radar and ACARS weather Link would be fantastic. I am sure, PMDG would find many new customers for this bird, if they will add this features. The model is more than ten years old and not so nice, but hey, your place is on the flightdeck! May you pimp the Model up with some HD-repaints. Cheers Greetings Andrew Bowler
October 30, 201510 yr I always thought the MD-11 was 6 years old. I came up with that age from Tutorial #1 which has a 2009 date on it. A closer look shows this was the last revision. So if it is 10 years old, it is even more amazing than I thought. Michael Cubine
October 30, 201510 yr I guess it's 2009 http://mutleyshangar.com/features/martw/md11.htm http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?1285-Aerosoft-PMDG-MD-11-X Jude BradleyBeech Baron: Uh, Tower, verify you want me to taxi in front of the 747?ATC: Yeah, it's OK. October 30, 201510 yr Commercial Member Yeah, I got confused with the 744 there for a second. The MD-11 came out roughly when I got back from PHX, if I remember correctly, which was around this time of year back in 2009. Kyle Rodgers
October 30, 201510 yr You are right. PMDG released the MD11 in the end of 2008 after 8! years of development. Greetings Andrew Bowler
October 30, 201510 yr By the way: A texture artist called Corina Meyer has given the MD-11 a new exterior life. The aircraft looks so much more up-to-date if you use her brilliant textures. When it comes to long-haul, I tend to use the old lady again instead of the newer aircraft. In my opinion, the VC has a certain feel that the latest add-ons lack. Long live the MD-11, thank you Corina. Christoph Kühne
November 2, 201510 yr This is the only aircraft which the more you spend time flying it, the more you love it. (Contrary to the other high-end addon) The learn curve is long, after years I am still discovering plenty of things about this aircraft. It flies/tracks beautifully by hand or with the AP on. The model seems dead on, even the high deck angle at low speed is perfecly matching it's real counterpart. I can never have too much of this beauty. I don't mind if PMDG is not going anywhere with it because I can enjoy it for years and years to come given I'm a slow learner and there are still so much to discover system wise... I would advise you to invest some of your time in this aircraft, handfly it in pattern work to have a feel of it, fly it long-haul like a real airliner, you will love it I'm sure. Get yourself a nice Alitalia cargo painting and enjoy.
November 2, 201510 yr It is worth to invest into Angle Of Attack, they have made whole training programme for MD11 - very useful Artur
November 2, 201510 yr I would love to add the MD-11 to my hangar, but the fact that it still demands a premium price, for a "dead" product, is a bitter pill to swallow. Take the time to at the very least make it P3D compatible and I would purchase on release. But sadly as FSX no longer has a place on my system, neither will the MD-11. I wish I could fly the best version of the first plane I worked on out of A&P school. Ahh to be 19 and doing ground runs on this airplane again. All that power at my fingertips. November 2, 201510 yr Yes, that is a big question - will we see MD11 in P3D 3.0 ? Maybe Kyle knows the answer ? Artur
November 3, 201510 yr Yes, that is a big question - will we see MD11 in P3D 3.0 ? Maybe Kyle knows the answer ? If he does, I am sure he knows well enough to keep his lips well and truly zipped   Peter Schluter
