Recommended Posts

My monitor cuts out and doesn't come back on until a few minutes after i come out of fullscreen

I'm have exactly the same issues that Vernon is experiencing with a second monitor.  I only use the second monitor when I fly on VATSIM for chart references etc, but I find I have to fly within windowed mode on my main display because going full screen blanks out the second display.

Hi erich does your monitor switch off and doesn't come back on after a few minutes of coming out of full screen?

No Vernon - it is FAR from NORMAL - that's the problem. It has something to do with the particular setup(s) and/or hardware - somehow they are not playing nice with P3D.

Yup - I have a Hanns 28" as my main and a Viewsonic 22" as my second. When I fly, I have the panel on main and usually have ASN, PlanG, and a few other programs running on second monitor. The majority of people who run multiple monitors do not have the problem you describe. *something* in your setup doesn't like your second monitor - wish I knew what. Try reducing the resolution on your #2 monitor in the prepar3d.cfg file and see if that has any effect.

Just as a test - try switching them - make the small lcd main and the big one the secondary and see if the same thing happens.

The resolution change is just to assure that you do NOT have the LCD resolution set to one that it cannot display. Changing it manually IN the cfg file should do that.

It certainly is possible that there is either some setting specific to your monitor or some defect.

Another thing to try - you said thy are both connected to a single card.

exactly HOW are they connected? - HDMI, Display port, DVI etc.

Also, try switching the monitors AT THE CARD - swap the connectors - see if that has any effect.

Some video cards are set up so that you cannot mix HDMI and DVI, it must be one or the other - something you can check in the card's docs.

Last, if you can borrow a monitor from a friend - see what happens when you plug that in.

My small LCD is HDMI. I've tried DVI not luck. As before, i've had both ports working with FSX.

I'm onto something. In my P3D cfg my small LCD says mode=1080x1920x32

But it should be 1024x768x32

Why is it changing it? My FSX.CFG shows 1024x768x32

So why is P3D being funny?

So thats why its cutting out

I HAVE SOLVED IT

I used DVI and matched my resolution in game and on my settings

Yeh great BUT i can't use HDMI to HDMI because somehow P3D is showing higher resolutions than my monitor can't use. I've tried changing it in the CFG but it keeps changing back.

Do you think HDMI to DVI D on my GPU would work? I've got a DVI D port spare so could try that but unsure if HDMI to DVI D would even work
