Old airliner videos: The Sight & The Sound

Recommended Posts

I've been following this guy's channel for a few weeks now and I'm really surprised with how little attention his videos seem to be getting. He has a whole bunch of videos mostly recorded between the 90s and now documenting rare (mostly russian) aircraft in a long, trip-report style format. They're really detailed and lots of fun to watch if you like old airliners: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIu9ReHPX-NyA0Gamb-wvLA/videos

Is it just me, or does the Lusunov - 2 look like a clone of the venerable DC-3?

I think it is.  The Russians reverse engineered some of the C-47's that were given them during WWII.  Why develop something from scratch, when you can copy something.

Both the Li-2 and the Showa/Nakajima L2D were license built versions of the DC-3. The USSR and Japan had to 'reverse engineer' the DC-3 to match their Metric equivalents; the Japanese even made L2D's with their control surfaces made out of wood.
