Left engine stops and starts over and over again

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had the same experience?
Under flight the eng.1 stops and A/T switch off. Then starts immediately and after everything from directly to severals second/minutes it stops and starts again.
I noticed that the throttle 1 makes a short, quick movement forward and this action makes the engine stop. I have tried to adjust throttles manually under A/T on, but it does not avoid the problem.

Under decent with throttle in idle it continue to stop and start, but under last flight the A/T did not switch off, and I landed with one engine running, since it stopped and no restart at descend.

I have searched for possible errors or programmed/planned errors to happen, but find nothing. Is it possible to look in to any files for errors?
Any other ideas how to find a solution for this? It has lasted over several flights with 737-800NGX.
I might need to do a re-install?

Reinstalls rarely ever solve issues, honestly. It's best to troubleshoot to find the underlying issue.

Are you using a hardware throttle? Are you using FSUIPC to calibrate those throttles? Are you using a saved panel state?

Yes I use hardware throttle, controlled by FSUIPC via BU0836x card.
Saved panel state (?), that was new info for me.

This is probably your issue. Put the FSUIPC.ini on your desktop (it's in your root sim directory). Try a flight. If the issue goes away, then it's your FSUIPC.ini file. If the issue doesn't go away, then put the file back in your sim directory (tell it to overwrite the temporary one it had created), and continue troubleshooting.

I've had a similar issue, but I don't know whether it's exactly the same one because once the engine quits, I don't see any movement whatsoever.

Anytime I use an airframe for the very first time, one of the engines quits while on approach and will not restart, even with the engine start switches in FLT What I do then is go to the CDU Maintenance pages and clear all faults and service the airplane. The engine will then relight and the issue will not recur. It's a mystery as to why this happens but at least there's a solution.

My setup: NGX with 6/700 expansion on Prepar3d v3. I have service-based failures enabled.

For those using a multi-lever throttle quadrant like the CH unit, if you have levers mapped to use as mixture controls for piston aircraft, those can potentially cause flameouts in turbine aircraft like the NGX if they get bumped, or generate a control spike due to noisy potentiometers.

It may not be the cause of the problem - but it is one thing to check.

Had the same problem.

As Kyle suggested,

Removing the FSUIPC.INI and calibrating through Saitek's software solved it.
