Aircraft accident at ESNM - four dead, three injured

Recommended Posts

A Cessna 206 went down at ESNM Optand, Sweden (very close to where I live) yesterday evening. It took off, reached an altitude of 200 meters and then dived into the forest 500m south of the airfield and caught fire. People reported hearing abnormal sounds from the engine during or shortly after take off.Four people died including the pilot, three were severely injured. They were parachutist between 20-30 years old.The pilot who died was also the pilot of the towplane for the glider club where I was supposed to take an intro flight next week...At the moment I don't feel like doing any flying, sim or real. Just feels wrong to do that under these circumstances.(links in Swedish but include some photos)http://www.op.se/artikel.php?visa_id=399369http://www.ltz.se/artikel_standard.php?id=...avdelning_2=142http://www.ltz.se/artikel_standard.php?id=...avdelning_2=142

Very sad thing to happen. I often stare at the photos of a flight that forgot to set it's flaps and only one little girl survived. I cannot imagine the the pain those families felt. But after our mourning we must continue to fly and learn from these awful crashes and to never repeat if possible the same conditions.Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Not a real pilot, but do play one on TV ;-)AMD 64 3200+ | ASUS KV8 DELUXE | GFORCE 5700 ULTRA @535/1000 | Maxtor 6Y080M0 SATA 80 GIG | 512 DDR 400 | Windows Xp Pro | Windows Xp Pro 64 |
