Now that also the Metrojet case has been officially confirmed as a bombing it's time for the EU and Russia to truly start co-operating in fight against ISIS and radical Islam in general. We must absolutely crush them at any cost.

While Pandora's box in fact seems to be open wide, here's some food for thought on the topic of cause and effect:

Thanks for sharing. Indeed the western foreign policy in Middle East has been an utter failure. Even today the US continues to support Saudi-Arabia and Qatar, two countries that have played a major part in rise of ISIS, together with GWB's decision to invade Iraq.

I really think this thread should be for people to show support and grief for the people of France.  Lets not get into what we should or shouldn't do to the people responsible

Sure, but I doubt calling for determined action against ISIS and other violent, radical forms of Islam is going to offend anybody here.

And what about the rest of the world having to deal with same issues? Just a day before there was a suicide attack that killed a lot of people and nobody said a word?

Why all of a sudden everybody is so supportive? Just because it is a first world country? Selective much?

smh.

To elaborate on this:

  • 32,658 people were killed by terrorism in 2014 compared to 18,111 in 2013: the largest increase ever recorded
  • Boko Haram and ISIL were jointly responsible for 51% of all claimed global fatalities in 2014
  • Boko Haram has overtaken ISIL as world's deadliest terrorist group
  • Countries suffering over 500 deaths increased by 120% to 11 countries
  • 78% of all deaths and 57% of all attacks occurred in just five countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan and Syria
  • Iraq continues to be the country most impacted by terrorism with 9,929 terrorist fatalities the highest ever recorded in a single country
  • Nigeria experienced the largest increase in terrorist activity with 7,512 deaths in 2014, an increase of over 300% since 2013

From:

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/2015-global-terrorism-index-deaths-from-terrorism-increased-80-last-year-to-the-highest-level-ever-global-economic-cost-of-terrorism-reached-all-time-high-at-us529-billion-550766811.html

No offence intended, but we really have to show a lot more support and grief than we have done so far.

I think it's pretty natural that people get desensitized to news about violent attacks in Middle East, or the classic, starving children of Africa because that stuff happens constantly, year after year. . But sure, I don't really get this "add tricolor to your profile pic" phenomenon nor did I join it myself. With same logic one could add flags of tons of other countries, like Russia which lost over 200 of its citizen as a result of bombing down Metrojet flight.

Yes, and we should also stop tolerating the intolerant. Too long have European authorities turned a blind eye to hate preaching and money from certain Middle Eastern countries that support it. (TIP: They have a lot of money and Iran isn't one of them).

The things we do to each other over resources, money, greed and religion are sickening.

If only every person could fly into space, and see the miniscule atmosphere protecting us all from real danger...

Maybe then, we'd all wake up and realize we should all unite and stop fighting over garbage.

Of note, most terrorism victims are muslim people as well.

Yes. As well ss Obams's decision to recklessly pull all forces out of Iraq without regard to the consequences. As well as Clinton's reluctance to take down bin laden during the several chances that he was presented. As well as Bush senior's decision to kick Iraq out of Kuwait. And as well as the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. This thread was good until somebody decided to politicize it.

So the root of the problem is Rel....oh wait, can't say the R word on here,

Then the problem must be Pol....oh wait, can't say the P word on here either,

Then the problem must be with Disenfranchised Youth, so there it is, it is Disenfranchised Youth

No offence, Brian, but I guess I've heard the same rhetoric on the other side?

Why let the thread fall into a political football.  Its pretty simply,   don't talk about religion or politics with people you only know virtually.

Its not rocket science
