Autopliot night lighting?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Based on my positive experience with the F406, I decided also to buy the PA31.

Nice airctaft, but I wonder if anyone else experiencing the same... :

When flying during night, the AP-buttons (ALT/NAV/HDG etc) are not light at all.

Basically it is a hit and miss action pressing the buttons in the complete dark. Did I miss a lighting button somewhere or are the buttons indeed not light at all?

No problem here. In fact the night lighting seems very realistic in my set up.

Are you turning on the "Avionics" light switch in the overhead?

The popup also makes it easier to see and is usually the way I use the autopilot anyway.

Hope this helps to get you a little farther down the road.

Jesse

One other quick thought; if you keep a pretty dark night environment you could always try the overhead lighting located in the ceiling. That will cast some additional light on the pedestal/autopilot.

Hi Jesse,

Thanks for your advise, but I'm still having issues.

This is what I'm referring to:

P31-Lighting.png

Pitch black buttons, also not lit (spelling ?) by the overhead lamps.

If I remember correctly, shift+1 brings up the 2D A/P panel. I don't have any problems using that during night flights.

You are correct and that it exactly the kind of lighting I'm looking for.

Unfortunately the AP in VC is way too dark, but I agree the 2D panel is a good alternative.
