Fifteen+ hours for a download from SimMarket ?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to download a scenery (NewYorkX for P3D3) I just purchased from SimMarket, ok it's 3.1 GB, but forecast is oscillating between 15 and 48 hours (!!!), and after 20 minutes it's still at 0.0 (nothing received)! My connection is quite good and working well (100 Mb/s).

Has anyone experienced that kind of problem?

Thank'you

Andrea Damiani

Hello Andrea.  When this happens to me, i cancel download and pick another server to download from.  Do you get a choice of server download

Hi Poppet, thanks for your answer, unfortunately there is no server choice, just that one. I also opened a ticket with SimMarket and tbh I had a very quick answer. They say that everything is ok on their side and that they are not responsible for download speed, and that "For very large files you should have a fast and reliable connection to the internet as well as time and patience."

I suggested that they write about time and patience in the product description and don't let the customer find out the hard way after the credit card has been charged.

Restarted now after it got stuck. Forecast is currently 14-20 hours and we are still at 0.0

Disappointing.

Andrea

Yes, not good Andrea.   Your Anti virus Software might be interfering with the download,  try and add the site to the Trusted area or the Exclusion Zone of your software.

If that doesn't work, wait for a while and try and download again

Yup, tnx, Antivirus is off, I am trying again and getting a forecast of 15-19 hours.

Ok, good night. Best luck tomorrow, I'll launch the dl again before going to work.

Tnx again

I had this happen to me last night around 8 pm EST.  Tried several times and it kept fluctuating from around 17 hours to 48 hours then back to 12 hours and back up to over 40 hours.  Never got more than 112MB's download in all of my attempts. :t0105:   I decided to leave my computer running all night still trying to download the product.  I woke up around midnight and decided to check my computer to see how far the download had gone.  In about 3 and a half hours I got 111 MB's downloaded.  Yikes!  That's a long ways from 3GB's!!  So I cancelled out and started it again a little after midnight.  This time it downloaded the product completely in 43 minutes. :Applause:  So, unfortunately, I think anytime between midnight and 3 AM for those on the East Coast of the USA is the best time.  It's only around 5 or 6 am in Europe and the European's are getting ready to go to work or are waking up and rubbing their eyes and starting the coffee machines  :Cuppa: not thinking they could be on SimMarket and downloading.  Here in the USA, most people are asleep :Sleepy:.  In the Far East, they are awake mostly but maybe never heard about the 50% off sale.  In any case, it worked for me... finally!  Good luck!

Download between 06:00 and 10:00 GMT. When America sleeps you get good download speeds.

My experience here in eastern Australia is consistent with what Ray says. I have found that the best time to download from Simmarket is between 1500 and 1800 AEST which is 10 or 11 hours ahead of GMT, depending on whether daylight saving is operational.

I have not experienced downloading times as slow as Jim has experienced.

I have bought hundreds of products from Simmarket. In the case of about three of them, I experienced Andrea's problem of the download progress indicator not moving from zero, despite trying three different browsers on each occasion. I took it up with Simmarket on each occasion but they denied any responsibility for it and were suggesting the problem was at my end. Subsequently, I bought Internet Download Manager and have not had that problem since.

Thank'you all, I see our experiences are consistent; I finally downloaded the scenery this morning, that's 10 hours ago, while getting ready for school. It took less than 15 minutes. Interestingly, they never accept responsibility for the inconvenience. A peculiar policy indeed, when they could simply advice to try again at a more convenient time ...

Anyway, all is good ...
