Should I upgrade my GTX 680 to a Titan X?

Featured Replies

I have an EVGA GTX 680 FTW+ (4GB) . Windows 7 64bit - 16GB RAM. i7-3770k OC to 4.5GHz.

I want to get the most out of Prepar3D and have been doing a little bit of research. Should I upgrade my card to a Titan X SC 6GB? Its about $1100 I think. What kind of upgrade can I do on my computer that will yield me the most noticeable difference in performance when using P3D?

Will upgrading my PC's memory from 16GB to 32GB do? Upgrading my HDD to SDD? or upgrading my video card? My system is about 2-3 years old now. It still handles pretty well. Not sure if I should until next year to see if a newer graphic card comes out.

I think I have about another 1-2 years before I can upgrade. But using my PC primarily for P3D and X-Plane is really pushing it to its limits. :(

What do you guys suggest?

I think your 16 GB of memory is fine.  Maybe instead if getting a Titan X,  you could get a Gtx 980 ti and and a SSD which would be the same money as buying a Titan X.

The thing about the Titan X is the amount of video memory 12GB vs 6GB of the 980. I don't mind spending extra if it's going to last me a bit longer. I don't upgrade often.

Out of these 3 upgrades, which would give me the best performance boost:

1) Upgrading my current RAM from 16GB to 32GB

2) Upgrading my current i7-3770k (Overclocked to 4.5GHz) to i7-4740k

3) Upgrading my current EVGA GTX 680 FTW+ (4GB) to a TITAN X SC (12GB)

Those are my options. I'm not sure if upgrading the system RAM would benefit me much. But I'm assuming upgrading the graphics card would show me the most noticeable improvements.
