NBC New York "terrorists" fail to hijack helicopter...

Recommended Posts

Guest Philip Olson

I wondered if those "journalists" could get charged and I hope that they do, to the fullest extent of the law! I also think that NBC should, and will be charged because you know that there were many people in the organisation that would have pushed for a "big story" like this one. I do hope they are made an example of and this kind of garbage stops. When asked the vast majority of journalism students said that they want to be a journalist because they want to change the world, that is really scary to me because I thought that reporting the news is the reporting of fact, not an attempt to change the world. If by their reporting of the facts some changes occur fine, but to puposely go out and try to change the world by creating stories to me is not a good thing. Oh well I guess most people just want to feel important and they think that their way of thinking is better than everyone else's, just human nature.Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg

I'll bet they get charged with nothing, or at most get a slap on the wrist. The Patriot Act gives the government a lot of power, but also wide discretion in using it. While a man in New York was recently imprisoned for wearing a protest T-Shirt outside a designated "Free Speech Zone", these journalists will almost certainly face no charges at all.As another aside, the Patriot Acts definition of terrorism is so wide that it's being used this week in California to charge an environmental activist with 16 counts of terrorism for damaging 16 Hummers at a car dealership. If convicted he faces 16 consecutive Federal life sentences.Richard
