Virtual Cockpit Missing From Cameras.cfg file

Recommended Posts

I think EZ-Dok somehow deleted the Virtual Cockpit camera from my Cameras.cfg file.

Is there a way to replace the Virtual Cockpit camera in the Cameras.cfg file without having to reinstall FSX completely?  If so, does anyone have the format for original VC camera?

Thanks all!

Hey Bjoern

Thanks for the response!  I figured it our shortly after I posted.  Still trying to figure out what happened to the VC in FSX but I did add the VC panels to my aircraft.cfg files and all seems to be good.

I'm starting to think I like tinkering around FSX more than I like actually simming...  I definitely spend more time at it.

Cheers

I got the same problem. How does this work?

Are you missing  [CameraDefinition.002] in your cameras.cfg?  If so, just copy and paste what is in the other posts to it. Don't know where cameras.cfg is located.?  Same place where your FSX-SE.cfg hides.

Yup, it can do that. I spent two days trying to find out why my Virtualcol Shorts 360 had no VC when other FS aircraft did have them, even contacting Virtualcol support, thinking it was an issue with their aeroplane, and they tried their best to help me figure it out to their credit, but it turned out it was EZDOK which was responsible, requiring me to fix my camera config file. It's why I don't use EZDOK any longer, it's a great utility, but when something screws up other things in your sim, for me that's time to uninstall it.

Hi,

what do you mean by "going external"? If you are calling the outside "Spot" view, that definition is wrong in your cameras.cfg. In "Spot" view the "Origin" has to be "Center". The rest of the definitions look OK. What the OP describes is a different problem - the EZDOK uninstaller removes the "[CameraDefinition.002]" from the cfg, so people don't have any VC view.

The "Origin" determines (among other things) which model (internal or external) of your aircraft will be loaded. Because it is set to "Virtual Cockpit" in your "Spot" view you get to see the internal model = the VC.

But if you mean that switching to aircraft cameras still gives you the internal model, then there is something wrong with the aircraft.cfg - aircraft category cameras are in there.

I tried to stop moving the moment in the PMDG 777, because I was moving around when I turned or banked. So I changed a few things, then realised what happened to my aircraft. So I would change my camera on fsx so I could see the whole plane (external) but the whole plane is invisible except the cockpit from the external view. I'll see if I can upload a photo here, I just don't know how to upload photos on here?.

As I wrote, the external view that you switched to has the "origin" set to "virtual cockpit". That is why you are only seeing the internal VC model, as it looks from the outside. An aircraft in FSX has two separate 3D models, one external (=fuselage, wings, etc.) and one internal (=the VC). The view system always only displays one of them, either internal or external, depending on the "origin" of the camera definition. If you are in VC view and would move the camera outside of the cockpit, you get the picture that you describe - because the external model is not even displayed in that mode. When you switch to an external camera, the origin changes to "center", and the simulator removes the internal model and displays the external instead. What you got here is a mixup, you have a camera position that is placed outside of the internal model.

1. In [CameraDefinition.002] set (=replace the existing line that starts with the same text)

MomentumEffect=No

2. In [CameraDefinition.003] set (=replace the existing line that starts with the same text))

Origin=Center

3. There is not one single "external view", there are many. The question is, which one did you call? Spot, Locked Spot, FlyBy, TopDown, or any of the myriad of Aircraft cameras, which are all external?

4. When editing config files of the simulator always make a copy of the original file, so you have a secure fallback option in case something goes wrong.

Best regards
