The Proper Way to Close P3D?

Hello everyone.

 

What is the proper way to close P3D?

 

I play full screen, and when it is time for me to exit the program, I hit left alt to bring up the menu bar, I click scenario, and then EXIT.

When I return to my windows screen, the resolution and colors do not revert to what it was before launching P3D, so I suppose I am doing something wrong.

Can anyone advise?

 

I am using version 3 of the product.

I usually ctrl alt delete, end task, reset 3x, disconnect the power cable, pour water over the mainboard end reset 1 more time.

Sigh....while I am sure that you are all joking, this didn't come across as being terribly friendly. The op was asking a question and you all just decided to mock him...wonder why the number of simmers is decreasing.

 

To OP, really there isn't a right way, I have esc bound to exit sim, I just use that command and everything shuts down, never had a problem. Actually EZdok does leave its icon active but it doesn't appear to have any issues.

I usually just pick up my computer and throw it out my second floor window. Then go get in my lifted truck and back over it a few times, and on the way back into the house, I give it a good swift kick for good measure... But that's only if I miss a landing. (Which to date, has yet to happen!)

In addition to doing esc and exit.. I have a batch file that kills all the process e.g. UTraffic, Go Flight, Saitek, etc (mostly to kill all the addon process and Home Cockpit addon process). This kills all the sim related process. So when I start the sim again, I do not have any orphan process sitting there.

 

I Looked at the DLL.xml and EXE.xml   and built a kill.bat that kills each of the program and DLLs that was loaded. Most of them are supposed to die once we exit FSX/P3D ..but I make sure it does.

The response about pulling the plug from the wall socket had me laughing good and hard but to answer your question Damian, I exit P3Dv3 exactly as you described. However I do not experience any color changes to the windows desktop from before and after running P3D. I have never read about any one else having this issue either.

ok - let's get back on track guys - Damian - I use Esc and then select exit. I have no issues with screen colors, etc. Do you have some unusual graphics configuration? multiple monitors. etc?

 

Also, on some systems it can take over a minute for the process to fully unload. Yo9u need to wait for that to happen.

I wasn't mocking anyone - not intended - just throwing out a laugh once and a while - simmers aren't decreasing especially since LM has brought a way better sim to the table 

 

By the way I use crtl +c then enter - I was not home when I posted and couldn't remember at the time

You can't kill a DLL, only the process that loads it.
