Yaw Damper

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I noticed a while ago that when I go to turn the yaw damper on in the 737 (during a cold and dark start) sometimes it will bounce back to the off position. I do my checklist in the same order every time, and some days it works, some days it doesn't. I noticed this a long time ago, and I have always just worked around it. I was wondering if I need to turn a certain system on before turning on the yaw damper, like hydraulics maybe?

Thanks, Ethan

If this were true, you'd see the same thing each time, honestly. The yaw damper will kick off if the IRS switches are turned OFF.

Full names - first and last - in the forum, please.

For me I've noticed that the YAW DAMPER will kick back to the off position unless the IRSs have finished aligning.
