Navigraph data won't update in the 737 NGX

Recommended Posts

Just downloaded this aircraft today and am already running into an issue just trying to bring the FMC Airac data up to date. I subscribe to Navigraph which I use on 3 other aircraft and Pro atc without any problems. I downloaded the latest cycle 1512, pointed the   Navigraph installer to P3d/Pmdg/ Navadata,  and it loads the data. Then I go into the FMC in the 737, and it doesn't see the new data, and shows me data from Airac 1108. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Copy NAVDATA and SIDSTARS folder in NAVDATA folder back into PMDG root folder, see if that works.

I did that , same problem. Guess I won't be flying this bird on my VA until I can get this fixed.

I think that the Navigraph installer put the files in the wrong place, or I pointed it to the wrong directory somehow. Have it all working now.. Thanks

Just to make sure that I have this correct now. I have a folder P3D/PMDG/Navdata and inside that folder I have about 8 files

airports.dat

cycle info

fmc ident

wpnavaid

wpnavapt

wpnavfix

wpnavrte

In that same folder, I have two more sub folders.

Navdata

Sidstars

In the navadata folder I have duplicates of the above 8  files I just mentioned

In the Sidsstars folder  I have all the sids and stars for the airports.

What has me confused is the duplication of the 8 files in two places. I am also not certain that the sidsstars folder is in it's proper place. If anyone could take a look at this on their system to see if that is what they have, I would appreciate it.

If you are using the Navigraph data manager, just point it at your main P3D folder. The installer already knows how to find the PMDG/Navdata folder from there. If you point it at the Navdata folder itself, it will put the files too "deep" in the folder structure.

Ah, that must be what I did wrong. Thanks.

Hi, Bobsk8,

I have FSX, not P3D, but pretty sure the file structure is identical.

The folders look like this:

FSX (or P3D)

---PMDG

-----NAVDATA

-----SIDSTARS

There might be backup folders of the previously-installed Airac as subfolders of one or both folders, But these won't have the

identical names of SIDSTARS or NAVDATA. You can remove subfolders with those names. If you want to be on the safe side, move them to someplace outside P3D, start up

the NGX and see if it is showing the latest Airac. Then delete the folders you've removed. They do take up a bit of space.

Mike

PS- For future reference, PMDG wants you to put your full name in all posts on its forums.

In P3D we usually have the PMDG folder:

..\Prepar3D v3\PMDG\

under PMDG folder we have:

..\Prepar3D v3\PMDG\NAVDATA\ (airports.dat, wpnavaid.txt, and 6 other files)

..\Prepar3D v3\PMDG\SIDSTARS\ (many ICAO.txt files)

there are several other folders under \PMDG\ including FLIGHTPLANS where FMC .rte files are copied to from flight planners.

Bob 1513 came out today.

Want to hear a funny story, I finally got this update and folder issue straightened out yesterday with the install of navigraph. I  got up this morning, fired up the 737 , turned on the FMC and at the bottom it said " Data is out of date".  So now I am thinking something else is wrong with my update procedure, so I make a ticket out with PMDG describing the out of date issue complete with screen shots of my folders and the error message on the FMC. After sending the ticket off, I look closely at the error message, and the date of 1512, which expired last night. That is why I got the out of date message this morning.    :fool:

In P3D we usually have the PMDG folder:

..\Prepar3D v3\PMDG\

under PMDG folder we have:

..\Prepar3D v3\PMDG\NAVDATA\ (airports.dat, wpnavaid.txt, and 6 other files)

..\Prepar3D v3\PMDG\SIDSTARS\ (many ICAO.txt files)

there are several other folders under \PMDG\ including FLIGHTPLANS where FMC .rte files are copied to from flight planners.

That is the file structure I finally have when I got everything straightened out.

Haha. If you want you can hand edit fmc_ident.txt to get rid of the Out of Date message.
