If you have the uiautomationcore.dll in your main fsx folder, remove it.  This one, located in the system32 folder is in conflict but it is part of the Microsoft.net packages so you cannot remove it under any circumstances from your system32 folder.

Place UIAutomationCore.dll version v6.0.5840.16386 in the FSX Program files folder. That one may resolve the issue. Even so, beware there are some systems (or installations) that cause a fault in UIAutomationCore.dll whatever version is used. A stock version of FSX boxed will have trouble with the menus in recent versions of windows. So version v6.0.5840.16386 is slightly more compatible with FSX and will be picked up by fsx.exe if it's found in the FSX folder. If you still get problems look at the additions to FSX installed.

Hey Jim

The Uiautomationcore.dll is not in my FSX folder.  In my Windows  System32 folder, there is a Uiautomationcore.dll and UiautomationcoreRes.dll file.  not sure if this means anything?

That's the system one, which strictly speaking, is incompatible with FSX boxed, if you're on Win7 +. That's why I posted the version v6.0.5840.16386 for you to place in the FSX folder to try.

Hello Steve

This appears to have fixed the problem.  Any ideas as to why?  I looked back in my event log, I had downloaded an addon from FSdreams and then about 6 hours later the error came up.

Thanks again for your help

Robert

Oh, I'm on windows 10

OK. Seems odd to suddenly doing it, but see how it goes.
