SCENERY INSTALL PROBLEM

I have a strange issue. None of the sceneries that I have recently purchased appear in my scenery library. I get an error "SCENERY.CFG file error. Failed to add library item[Area.170].   An entry already exist with the path". Can anyone offer a solution

Your best solution is to download and install SceneryConfigEditor - http://sourceforge.net/projects/fs-sceditor/.  It will show you the issues with your config and offer to fix them for you.  You can also reorder your Areas/Layers as sometimes they get out of numerical sequence (which is okay but, if you're a neat-freak like me, it's a handy tool).

If you are using FSX Steam FSX:SE), and never had FSX Disk version installed, then please select "FSX" and not "FSX:SE" when you install them.  This will allow the installer to register and activate the scenery in your Scenery.CFG file.  This is a rather well known anomaly (but not a bug) when FSX:SE is installed as described above.

 

I agree with Jim, SceneryConfigEditor is an excellent tool for managing scenery.
