Weather dropouts

Recommended Posts

I run FSX and P3Dv3 on separate drives in W7x64.  I have OpusFSI installed on the same PC.

I have configured Opus correctly as far as I can see, and the paths to the FSX and P3D folders are correct.

When I load the program with FSX/P3D running with the plane at a parking spot, quite often the sky changes with new clouds, but the wind in the sim stays at 358/0.  I can see from Spy that this wind value (and the barometer settings) are wrong but for some reason Opus is not transmitting the correct data to FSX/P3D.

If I continue with the flight, sometimes the simulation picks up the correct wind speed/direction (and barometer settings) from Opus and maintains these for perhaps an hour or more. Then, all of sudden we are back to 358/0.

I'd be grateful for any ideas on what might be going wrong and how to fix it. I use FSUIPC.

Hi John,

Make sure you are operating in the correct FSX or P3D v3 mode as indicated in the Spy window in the latest beta versions.

Also make sure you have the latest OpusFSI Beta Version 4.63.4 installed as this is needed for P3D v3 compatibility, especially with weather injection. The current release version is not compatible with the latest P3D v3 and will result in faulty surface weather due to a fault with one of the v3 SimConnect functions.

Stephen :-)

Also set all defaults in the weather dialog, adhere to Recommended Practices, and make sure you have the OpusFSI DWC Dynamic Wind Control enabled with ALL fsuipc4 weather options turned off.

Thanks Stephen,

The new beta seems to have fixed the problem, at least in P3Dv3   I haven't tested it yet in FSX.

I wonder how many people like me do not click on the large button in FSUIPC4 labelled 'Weather Settings Off'. Up to now I either forgot to do anything, or just 'cleared all weather'.

I think we do put that advice or similar in our GS Guides, I will check.

I will be posting this beta as the next release this weekend. No need for you to install that unless I announce anything new added as it will be identical, just has the beta label removed.

I like your handle. My SkySafari has just announced a satellite flare about to occur so checking outside.

Stephen :-)

Too cloudy to see anything. Best check the SimForums Announcements for details of changes in the latest beta although I think I have just about kept Avsim up to date as well.

Stephen :-)

Will keep an eye out on SimForums for anything new.

Must also look out SkySafari. Thanks for the tip.
