This was a bad idea!

Not complaining about 3.1 update! Shame%20On%20You.gif

Just installed the latest client (after uninstalling the old client) and was curious to see what 3.1 looks like.

Fired up the sim, choose the F86 Sabre at Eglin AFB with OpusFSX providing weather.

(As always, click to see full size picture!)

I opened full throttle and took off towards the ocean, enjoying the water!

About 10 minutes in flight, I started doing some rolls, I believe in English they're called barrel rolls?

Few seconds later, my engine quit. Miles away from land, 9.000ft up and I could not get her running again! =@

I think it has something to do with the fuel injection, flying upside down...

Great shots of 3.1.  Looks like you were in a bad situation.

Very nice shots. I would be surprised if a fighter jet of even the Korean war era would have a fuel problem flying inverted. Any classic jet fighter experts out there?

Very nice water! This authentic 1956 manual might be helpful and interesting to folks flying the F-86: http://aviationshoppe.com/manuals/f-86_flight_manual/f-86.html?pageNumber=4

Section 5, page 4 under Prohibited Maneuvers: "Inverted flight, or any maneuver resulting in negative acceleration must be limited to 10 seconds duration, as there is no means of ensuring continuous flow of fuel while in this attitude".

There's also no snap rolls or snap maneuvers, and my personal favorite... "no aerobatics when bombs are installed". lol (There's a funny cartoon about that on section 6, page 5... gotta love these old school manuals.)

I also love this one a lot, Ethan. Something about getting a blast out of the maneuver!

These are great shots Vital! The engine out far from land really brings home the "Wet Footprint"!

Cheers,

Very interesting manual you found there! Thanks for sharing. It reads almost like a comic book.

So MilViz did simulate some of the Sabre's characteristics, nice :-)

No problem, glad you found it interesting. Looks like Milviz definitely did their research. Impressive.
