Can't decide

Recommended Posts

I also have both the FF767 and MD80. I bought the MD80 shortly after release and love it. It is not a study sim, many of the features that another FSX product has are not featured, however it offers amazing immersion in flight. I'm not an MD80 pilot in RL, but understand that it's an unpredictable aircraft that requires a lot of pilot input. I'm not sure if the issues reported here (and some I have not seen) are representative of the real a/c issues or not, but if just setting up the autopilot and letting the a/c fly itself is what you want, this is not for you- just as in the real a/c.

I have just bought the 767 and can't comment much, other than it is heralding a new era in XP add-ons with it's configuration and options setup.

Both are "must have's" in my opinion...

Bruce.

Bruce,

Thanks for the response. I purchased the FF767 and am enjoying it in the limited number of flights I've flown. I'm sure I'll get the MD-80 also. I know it has its' own set of quirks, like most new releases do. I'm waiting to see if there's an incremental update coming to deal with some of these issues.

Very good choice, I'm sorry I missed this thread - I have a personal review of it - link in my signature. Though if anyone else is on the fence trying to decide which to purchase, hopefully the review can give you an idea of what a usual leg in the 767 looks like.

The 767 is indeed one fine gem. An update was just released today - version 1.0.24 - that fixed a few issues & bugs, and patched a rare CTD.

Happy flying!

I like the MD-80 despite it's lack of active switches. I just spent the whole day yesterday on 3 flights. I had one CTD - seems to be related to Skymaxx so I dropped down a notch on that.

Very addictive and there are some workarounds for the FMC crashes on the .org site.

Version 1.1 should be out soon to address some of these issues.

I also enjoy the MD-80 and am looking forward to the up coming patch.  I have read all of the positive reviews on the 767 and am also going to purchase it.
