3.0 to 3.1 turned out to be a breeze

Recommended Posts

I did a full uninstall and a full install. Everything came up beautifully. All my addon folders were still there, so all I had to do is bring them back on line. ASN, Addon manager and objectflow were updated quickly so now I have everything back and working. A few re installs like FTX ground and REX soft clouds, but over all not a lot. I must say the new version does feel better (it's subtle but it's there). Love the new water, I'll keep it.

Hey, just wonder. Wh did you do a full reinstall instead of updating client and content?

Best,

Does this mean that scenery.cfg, simobjects.cfg, terrain.cfg etc. have not been touched during complete uninstall/reinstall procedure?

Yes, I found my scenery cfg intact, even though I had made a back up of it. The default planes all had new aircraft cfg files, but my addon planes were intact. All my folders out side the main directory were fine and the paths to them were still there. I did the full install route just to make sure I got everything.

Beware I did a full install also and it did not work - looks like it worked but I had no dynamic reflections slider - you might want to double check that

It didn't work for you because you made the 3.1 install over your existing 3.0 install which was obviously asking for trouble... whereas he said he did a full uninstall before installing the 3.1 version so he'll be just fine.

True, It's all there, the new water, dynamic reflections, the works. Working very nicely.

Lee, that's good news. I was going to reinstall Client only.

I did client only. Works great and the water does move. :>)

Same here no issues what so ever. I just went to my control panel and into Programs and features and clicked on Prepar3d V3 Academic and clicked uninstall. I didn't touch the Client, Content or Scenery.  When the uninstall was finished I rebooted. I didn't removed any files ( orbx, PMDG, Q400 etc... ) I just installed P3Dv3.1.   Then I loaded FTX central and it updated the Object flow and i downloaded the ASN update. everything is fine.  Only thing not working so far is the Flight 1 GTN.
