In search of the northern lights 1 (LKLB - EPZG)

Recommended Posts

In this tour, I'll be using the Carenado C337 and X-Plane 10. I'll be taking a few short flights from the Czech republic up to the north of Norway trying to catch a glimpse of the northern lights and enjoying the scenery along the way.

We start of in the town Liberec in the Czech Republic. This town is close to the Polish/German border and is a great starting point, with some nice scenery.

Climbing out of LKLB, we turn towards the north and head towards the Carpathian mountains seperating Poland and the Czech Republic

After about 10 minutes we pass into southern Poland. This is a tourist area in Poland and far in the distance can be seen the peak of Śnieżka (The tallest mountain in the area), the border runs right over the peak of the mountain.

We continuing heading North and the terrain gradually flattens and becomes more agricultural.

Below us in the A4 motorway connecting Dresden, Germany to Wrocław. This is one of the motorways which is actually free in Poland and cars speed along at 140km/h :-)

The terrain becomes increasingly forested which is very typical for this region of Poland

After about 30 minutes we begin our approach into Babimost Zielona Góra (EPZG). This small airport serves the local region and has 2-3 flights a week to Warsaw (and Gdańsk in the summer) using a Saab 340 (My favourite plane in X-Plane)

In the next flight, we'll head from Zielona Góra towards Szczecin and then cross the baltic to the Danish island of Bornholm.

Part 2 here

Fantastic tour Tony and super screen shots !!  This is why I purchased XPX. This platform has so much to offer. What weather program are you using, the clouds are fantastic. Looking forward to the journey!

Thanks Lamar. It's just the default weather engine with Skymaxx Pro for the clouds
