Is density altitude simulated?

Recommended Posts

Should I take density altitude into consideration when calculating take off distances in Prepar3d? Is Density altitude really simulated in Prepar3d?

Thanks!

I know it is in FSX, why should it be different in Prepar3D ?

Try taking off from Denver, then try it on a hot day, you will see why those runways are so long.

Odd question, actually two questions in one here.  First, density altitude is implied in takeoff calculations if they required altitude, altimeter and temperature.  Dew point is also used in a density altitude determination but effects are nil compared to pressure altitude and temperature. This is independent of any simulator platform in that it is just simple physics.  Second, density altitude is simulated in all popular flight simulators in a manner speaking... you may not have access to a density altitude value directly but the simulator has a model of the atmosphere that incorporates the physics of what happens. Just try raising the temperature at FL380 and watch your airplane fall out of the sky.
