Windows 10 for P3D, Final Verdict

As I'm going to upgrade my system with new components and fresh install of W7-Ultimate, I'm just wondering if W10 is now fully compatible with P3D and it's add-ones, meaning no troubles and lack of compatibility. I use PMDG, GEPRO, UTX, REX4TD, ASN FlyTampa and many others - too many too mention.

I've been running windows 10 since it was released and have had absolutely zero problems with anything.

Funny that, I still have Windows7 installed on 2 laptops and my latest 'gaming' build and also have had few issues of any importance that were related to the operating system; in fact none whatsoever over the past 2-3 months with Win7 Pro 64bit on my brand spanking new build. Everything works and works well. Does beg the question as to why I should upgrade now? I intend to wait awhile or at least until such time as Windows 10 comes of age or the freebie upgrade is close to expiring. In fact, there is absolutely no pressing need to upgrade as full support for Windows7 is likely to continue for several more years.

 

Isn't it odd how some folks, myself included, successfully resist operating system upgrades yet when it comes to updates for our favourite flight simulator that resistance is usually worn down pretty quickly..LOL!

Windows 10 has been flawless for me on both FSX SE and P3D v3.x.  I always use ASN and PMDG 737/777.  The original FSX is the only one that I never got to work with Windows 10.

Just a caveat - double check that your hardware is compatible before you upgrade. This was no ones fault but my own but I have a dedicated controller card in my FSX system running w7. Decided to convert that system also to P3D and w10. Decided to try an in place upgrade to w10 pro - download & install took about 1.5 hours - install kept rebooting then a message - restoring your old os! No specific error message. Took me a while and several more tries ( at 1.5 hours each) to determine that w10 did not like my disk controller. Had a few other issues caused by my own impatience but ultimately, almost 12 hours later - got w10 installed and installed P3D.

 

So far so good and getting used to the specifics of w10. My main p3d system though is still w7.

No issues at all, well...

No web cam drivers for my laptop. It is a Mecer i5. A sort og generic laptop assembled locally here in South Africa.

It has a 'Bison' webcam & the last available drivers were dated 2007. It just gives me a black box when I run it.
