Cessna 310 Startup

Hi, I've heard really good things about the 310 and want to buy it. However, I have a home cockpit build and I'm concerned that the startup procedure will not work with my set up. Specifically, I am concerned about the requirement to hold in the start button and simultaneously press the primer. I have FSX engine starters mapped to a button, but its an FSX command, so its on or off. And even using FSCUIP, there is no primer command.

 

Can anybody tell me if they've mapped the start procedure to keystrokes at all?

The primer is a goodie to make the RW start procedure possible, with correct sound, etc.

But it is not required. I don't think it will cause you any issue just ignoring this step.

I might take a gamble then ...

 

My main single prop is the A2A Cessna 182 which I can fly, startup to shutdown just using my home cockpit. I can do this with the Carenado Seneca II and the Flight 1 Islander, but I'm looking for a twin with a bit more realism and 'difficulty'.

Hi, there.

I don't think it's possible to engage the primer and press the start button at the same time.  As soon as you release the primer lever, it springs back to the neutral position, at which point you can press the starter button and the engine will start.  At least, that's how I've always done it.  There's nothing in Milviz's POH that would seem to call for a simultaneously pressing of both.  That being said, you can probably ignore the primer step and go on to starting the engine(s).  You might also take a look at MilViz's B55.  It's fun to fly, too.

The only "problem" you might run into is that the C310R has four separate switches for the L & R magnetos.

 

All must be flipped up (on) before pressing the starter button.
