September 16, 200520 yr While Lago's support is non-existant and they seemed to have ditched the MadDog software ... if you want a very well done MD-80 sim .. with FMC, this is it ... MD-Max is fine also, although they have yet to release their FMS.Many people hate the Lago MD-80 ... and have all sorts of issues with it ... for myself, I have a very vanilla Dell PC, no enhancements, just a older p4 2.6mhz with a radeon 9700 card ... I don't use addon scenery ... but do use RC3, FSNav for a moving map, AS4 and ASV, as well as Flight Deck Companion ... I have found the Lago Maddog to work well with all of these ... MDMax does not function well with FSNavThe real MD-80 IS NOT, as Bob pointed out above ... a 737 NG ... the first MD-80s did not have an FMC ... and the FMC was added as an option later on. For flight planning and lateral nav it works great .. you can have all the SID/STAR you want if you work for them and some are not accurate ... but good grief ... you can always ask for vectors and fly a sid and a star from a chart ... the automation is an enhancement to flight not the be all and end allAs for VNAV ... I think it works fine, but based on my old "Lago Maddog ... the FS2000 version" I always climb on IAS climb mode. VNAV climb works for me when I use it. I have done VNAV descents down to 10000 ft (which is the recommendation from some professionals, and VS the rest of the way down ... the VNAV descent seemed fine to me ... using specifically the BSR2 Star approach into KSFO ... met the constraints and was flexible in useI have done one successful autoland ... just to try it out, but have not encountered difficult weather requiring an autoland with the MD-80 yet ... (hahahahahaha) but who needs autoland anyway? All in all, I believe the Maddog is a worthwhile investment .. especially with a few extra JCA MD-80s .. could be better I suppose, but couldn;t all things in life ... I am very happy to have the Maddog in my hanger and I do use it often.Lalo Lalo's and Steffan's comments are worth reading, and I don;t want to be argumentative ... but for my $$$ this was a good purchase if you really want an MD-80 with FMCCheers and best Regards, and TGIFPaul BenoitKSAN
September 19, 200520 yr I hope everybody will wait to pass judgement on my MD-80 panel package until it is released and the price is set. I really think it is going to be a great package packed with features for a great price. I know people are stuck on FMC's but you also must remember that only the latest MD-80's were delivered with them and some others were added later. The FMC that will be included cannot be used to input flight plans but almost every other feature is included. It will also have a single point VNAV system. You must also remember that the price will reflect this as well. You also will get all 3 major variants including the all steam panel, the combination steam/glass panel and the all glass panel. The last two will be available with or without the GPS. Believe it or not, there were some full glass aircraft that did not have a FMC and we even had one all glass that had no power management system at all, it was just like flying a big 172. All that being said, I hope you will enjoy the package and give it a look. And as with all of our products, the customer support will be there.Have fun and happy flying.Lonny
