KPIT - BGL file from AVSIM Library

Recommended Posts

All,

The AVSIM Library has an updated BGL File for KPIT on FSX, but I have a few requests if someone can do me a favor -

I downloaded the airport design editor and the update from the library here, but have FSX - SE so I couldn't save the airport after I fixed it. But I think I did see what is wrong with it.

In real life, 28L and 28R are the primary runways for all landings and takeoffs. (I think they use those unless the tailwind is above 5 knots). I believe that BGL file is setup to have 10L and 10R as the primary landing and takeoff runways. Also, 28 / 10 C is used only for takeoffs and only if the other runways are backed up (KPIT is not busy, so basically that runway is never used). Also, 32 was only used for landings, never takeoffs - and in fact I believe it is closed today. Also 14 was very rarely used for takeoffs, and never landings.

Can someone please revise that KPIT BGL file to represent what I've described above and either email it or create an update in the AVSIM library?

As it sits, the default KPIT uses 32 for takeoffs... and when that happens, it jammes up the entire airport because there are no taxiways to the end of 32, planes have to taxi up the runway and turn around, making it impossible to fly to and from there on those days.

On a side note... does anyone know what's going on with runway 32 at the real KPIT? On Google earth looks like they're repairing it, but they've been doing that for years now.
