facilities.dll

Recommended Posts

I have not been able to load PD3 3.1 since I bought it yesterday. I uninstalled it, then did a reinstall. It crashes on the opening setup screen. The F22 shows up, that screen then goes to black within seconds. I have done an appview check for problems. Most of the time, the report indicates a fault involving the facilities.dll. I have no idea how to replace it and correct this or other related issues. Here is the latest appview report from a few minutes ago

Any help is appreciated.

In FS9 and FSX this error was usually caused by duplicate and conflicting AFCAD's. Did you recently install a new scenery? An AI program? If you just installed new airport scenery, I would disable that first and see if the error returns. If you own MyTraffic6 or MyTrafficX, disable that program in your scenery.cfg and see if that fixes the problem.  You may have to disable all addon scenery by unchecking each in the Scenery Library or scenery.cfg (make sure you disable all airport sceneries). If the error no longer occurs, it is one of the sceneries. The AI program MyTrafficX and MyTraffic6 has hundreds of AFCADS located in the MyTrafficX/Scenery folder so that the AI aircraft can properly take off and land. The developer recommends you disable any AFCAD that duplicates a commercial airport scenery. So, if you own Taxi2Gate KSEA, you should disable the KSEA AFCAD in the AI program.

If you installed a new airport scenery, make sure you installed it properly and ran the install program as the Administrator. Make sure no anti-virus program is scanning P3D while you are using P3D.  Look in the anti-virus quarantine section and make sure no false-positives were found for any P3D files/addons.

Hi Jim...thanks for taking a look. I have installed nothing. This is virgin pure, plain vanilla P3D 3.1. I have now uninstalled and reinstalled the program 3 times. I get to the opening screen. In the upper keft t hand corner where the vehicles are pictured, I briefly see the stock F-22. In moments or less, that screen goes black....and then the program crashes. I am trying to think of causes in FSX that lead to a black screen, though in this case it is only the Upper Left Hand Vehicle box which is affected. Again, thanks....

OK...me again, and I managed to take two screen shots. to show exactly what is happening. Links are below.

But your crash report indicates the cause was the facilities.dll and this faulting module has been known to show up when you have AFCAD's that are duplicate and conflicting.  So, how you got the facilities.dll crash with a "virgin" install of P3D is beyond me unless you ported over your old scenery.cfg into the new installation.  If the crash occurred while starting up P3D, the problem is in your dll.xml (which you shouldn't have if you have a "virgin" install of P3D). Did you look at your AppCrashView Report again to see if it is still the "facilities.dll" as the faulting module?

The next time you post a link to your images, I would recommend clicking on "Embed Codes" just below your image.  A bunch of options will show up and the option you want is "Image Embed Codes" and then copy the BBCode line and paste the line in your post or topic.  When you post, the image will show up right here and one does not have to click on your links and go to another website.  I use the same website for posting my images here and it's a great site but they have so many options for you to use it gets a bit confusing.  It did for me when I first used it and I had to do a lot of trials and errors before I figured it out.  AVSIM is set up to use BBCodes and if you copied the HTML line, you would have to use the "Link" option in the menu above and paste your HTML link in that box and it would post it here in your post.

Hope this helps (in regards to your crashes).

Hi JIm, First, thanks for the tip about image posting. I will make sure to follow that procedure. As for AFCADS, I have added nothing, changed nothing within P3D.  As for "facilities.dll", here is the most current info from App View, This does make reference to the dll. But, this time, the Fault Module Report identifies this as the cause of the ctd

"StackHash_0a9e"

You are very kind taking your time and trouble to assist me and other hobbyists. I deeply appreciate it

Thanks for your kind comments.  a BEX/StackHash crash is very difficult to diagnose.  Here's what the AVSIM CTD Guide says about a StackHash:

StackHash – See also BEX and NTDLL.dll above. There is no module on your computer system named StackHash so no need to look for it. If the StackHash is shown as the faulting module, it will have four characters next to it like StackHash_0a9e.  That represents the memory address of where the fault occurred. Do not try to look for it.  You will not find it. There is no known solution (except one) to BEX/StackHash errors other than reinstalling Windows and FSX but some have accidently fixed their problem by lowering fsx/display driver settings, rebuilding the FSX.cfg, changing voltages/overclocking settings in the BIOS, disabling all scenery add-ons in the Scenery Library, and/or shutting down FSX only in Windowed Mode and starting up in Windowed Mode but never in Full Screen. One known solution is disabling MyTrafficX 5.4c in your Scenery Library.  An AI schedule might be causing this crash as the schedule may be looking for a flight and it cannot be found.  There are also AFCAD’s that come with MTX and some of those may contain objects.  If disabling the program in the Scenery Library works, then you should reinstall the product and use the default schedules. Disabling DEP has worked for some but it is not the recommended solution.  FSX/P3D will not allow you to disable DEP.  It can only be done by a freeware program that you can download from the Internet (search Google).  It has not worked for many others.

I also saw that you have WinPatrol loading with P3D (loaded module #87).  You should disable WinPatrol from loading with P3D.  Goto the Malware Exclusions tab in WinPatrol and exclude the P3D folder and any addon folder from being scanned for malware.  Also look in the History tab and then Quarantine and make sure there is nothing related to P3D or a P3D in there.  Many malware programs and anti-virus programs have false positives and quarantine files they think are malware when the file is not a virus or malware.  It sometimes quarantines a needed registry item too.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

HI Jim,

The problem has been solved and it was really more basic than what I had thought, and what I led you to believe. Over on the ORBX forum, I was advised to use a download manager, on the theory that I had gotten an incomplete, or otherwise tainted zip file. I took a look at the checksum data, and sure enough, my previous downloads were incorrect. So, this morning I used a download manager, and, to make a long story short, it worked. I now have P3D up and running.

Your knowledge of computer technology has not gone to waste. I simply gave you the wrong places to look because mine is so limited. So, for now, all is good. Now, I just have to make sure that I can install FSINN for Multiplay, a few additional aircraft, REX with Soft Clouds and the ORBX scenery packages and set. . That should do it.

Again, and I cannot say this too much or too often, thank you for all your help.

Hi Sherm,

Glad you found the solution.  I love investigating the "crime scene" when someone gets a crash.  Just a good thing I don't have to take any of my "findings" in front of a judge and jury...

Latest chapter in my ongoing P3D Soap Opera. I installed the EMT, only to discover that in an attempt to transfer FSINN, it crashed P3D. Now, I have to find a way to transfer some needed files such as FSINN and aircraft to continue with MP at my VA. Some fellows over there have had complete success with EMT transfers, one has written a doc guide to help me along the way. More later in the story as it unfolds. Again, thanks.

The EMT causes all kinds of problems with many installations and is a known cause of CTD's.  Anyone who uses it is at serious risk of having a bad day flying.  I like this exchange on their website - link removed as it is dead.

I just had this problem CTD...due to facilities.dll

IAfter some binary search elimination.(after backing up each file I am deleting)

1) delete  scenery.cfg (started P3Dv4.. no luck..CTD)

2) delete dll.xml and exe.xml  (started P3Dv4.. no luck..CTD)

3) delete dll.xml and exe.xl from the second location.  (started P3Dv4.. no luck..CTD)

No go.. still same problem

4) delete Prepar3D.cfg

Voila...loads fine.

The culprit was the Prepar3d.cfg

I noticed the date on the file..it was todays date... I did not change anything...something has gone and changed something in that file... it had doubled in size too.

I took an old prepar3d.cfg and placed it, restored all the files I had deleted (from the backup. EXE.xml and DLL.xml (in both the folders) , scenery.cfg too

all things returned to normal.

I have the bloated prepar3d.cfg .. I'll take a look what happened there later.
