Some GA flying in Southern Chile

Recommended Posts

Ah, the Southern Summer! While it's cold and humid in Europe, our hobby gives us the opportunity to enjoy warm and bright days at the other side of the world - I came to Chile with my DC-6 - and memories of a real world trip there...

I choose an old but reliable C 185 for my trip:

Nice shots!

Thanks!

I love this part of the world!

Thanks, me too!

... follow the volcanoes ...

Thanks HL. Yes, at this classic route Temuco-Puerto Montt, the volcanoes stand there like a pearl chain. Llaima - Sollipulli - Villarrica - Quetrupillán - Lanín (at Argentinian territory) - Choshuenco - Puyehue - Osorno - Puntiagudo - Calbuco. If you take a little loop to south, Yates, Hornopirén, Chaitén will follow. I made this trip by car nine years ago, it was magnificent. Imagine you drive through a landscape like in northern Switzerland, and then suddenly a volcano stands there and smokes at day and lights red at night... for an European, this is sometimes quite surreal... But the best thing: I flew from Santiago to Temuco as passenger of a B737-200, built 1979 - just great. I wish I could get there just another time.
