777 .HOURS file will not save on exit

This is really bugging me now.

 

My Hours will not save after a prolonged flight, so service based failures will never work because the service hours will not be saved.

 

 

I get no Event viewer errors.

 

Addons I use are

ASN

FTX Global 

REX4 and Softclouds

UK2000 Heathrow

PrecipitFX

 

And to add to that, If I load from start and exit without a flight the hours file gets updated so its a crash on exit after a flight that is beyond me to solve.

If I start from a fresh load of the 777 then quit just siting at the gate or a runway before any flight has taken place I find the file has been updated, However if you do a flight of any kind and exit when you have finished, the file will never be updated because the sim crashes on exit.

 

I hope that helps, very puzzling issue for me that's been happening since purchase.

Hi all,

 

Sorry to dig up a dead topic, I found this whilst searching for my issue and it hits the nail on the head. I've had this issues myself since day one essentially, firstly with FSX. I followed the correct paths by submitting a ticket and I was told to run as admin, which I have done pretty much ever since the feature was introduced!

 

I now run P3D. Everything works perfectley, but I still have this one issues of the HOURS not saving whatever I seem to do. For example, I flew an aircraft for 10 hours 2 days ago, the houirs reduced for 214 to 204. I saved the panle state, and reloaded it yesterday only to find the hours had increased back to 214. Everything else on the panel state was as I left it, brake temps, lighting, doors etc.

 

By the way, the hours were on 214 originally as I had used someone elses panel state from my virtual airline.

 

Did anything ever come of this? Interested to know as it's slightly annoying as I never get to experience any issues haha!

Interesting topic. Since my new install I don't even know where the hours are stored. I had found them once and then lost them. Could someone please hint me at where to find them? I'd like to check my hours.

The hours to maintenance for the 777 are maintained by tail number and not by panel state, the run times are kept at ...\PMDG\PMDG 777X\Aircraft\ in the files with an .hours extension.

 

Tom, make sure the hours file for the tail number you are flying is being update after each flight, if not you might not have assigned admin rights to your simulator platform (FSX or P3D).

 

Each panel file contains random event timers intended for the saved flight, each unique aircraft can have many saved flights or panel states, and each one will have a different random failure data; however the total time and time to maintenance are by tail number.  I think.

You didn't need to post that.  The run timer is 91175 sec or 25.3 hr.

 

I asked you to check to see if the file was  being updated after a flight, check the date/time of the file. If the file is not updated after closing your flight sim then make sure your simulator has admin rights.

I posted it because the columns didn't make sense to me. Now I know that the first column indicates my flight time in seconds, thank you very much.
 
After my own logbook that I keep quite meticulously I have flown 31h 34min with this aircraft. I think that this is due to the fact that it sometimes crashes while trying to load after having viewed my landing multiple times with FSRecorder.

I think I solved this problem.  When ending your session, DON"T exit flight simulator, instead choose End Flight.  The EXIT the FSX.  

If the sim crashed upon hitting EXIT (and sometimes you don't notice, you'll never get credit for the hours flown).  If you End Flight first, you will get credit.

I think I solved this problem.  When ending your session, DON"T exit flight simulator, instead choose End Flight.  The EXIT the FSX.

That's interesting to know! I've had no luck so far, I flew 8 hours today and the file didn't update at all. I exited P3D the standard way and it seemed to close fine but as you said, a "crash" may not be noticiable. I will try this way for sure next time and report back.

 

In the meantime, after getting frustrated at is not saving once again, i've noticed on the properites tab when I right click on the Lockheed Martin file, the "read only" tab is not checked, but is filled with a blue square. I uncheck this and it applies the setting to all the subfolders etc, but as soon as I go back on the properties tab to check, the blue square has returned. I downloaded a "take ownership" mod and i've applied this to the folder and subfolders but not tested it out yet, so hopefully this will fix it too.
