No i'm not a "real" pilot, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Agree, what else can be said. There is a lot I like about the PMDG 747 but how it can win these award in its current iteration is beyond me. Kinda makes a mockery of the whole process.Bruceb

Best utility went to FS2Crew.Best freeware airliner went to the SamDim Tu-112! Rightfully deserved!

Sorry i agree with some of the other statements, the PMDG is not a patch on the quality of LDS 767, and talking about patches the PMDG is desperate for one to fix the endless list of problems I have with it!. And not to mention the price of the PMDG exceeds the LDS price tag by quite a sustantial amount, was this not taken into consideration - I think value for money is one of the most important aspects in awarding products.

Agreed Ben. You only need to fly the PS13a for a few minutes to realise how far behind and buggy the PMDG 744, in its current state is. Very surprising PMDG won over the Level-D 767.

Dillon,I couldn't have put it any better myself. With this kind of judgement, I am glad it wasn't possible for me to attend the awards.Level-D brought out their product and apart from the SIDS and STARS problem was fully functional and without reasons to 'ground' it. The 747 from PMDG is a long long way from that standard. So how come it won?Dave T. .........On the lovely warm Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/

I don't normally get into these my plane is better than your plane type posts, but in this case I feel I have to as a purchaser of both products. IMHO the LDS has much more value for the buck, has had more time to mature and has done so beautifully. The 744 while an excellent product, just isn't there yet. It fails over the LDS in value, has enough severe issues like causing stuttering, and out of memory errors. While I haven't had these problems myself as I have a 2GB system, enough people are reporting them to convince me it is a problem. The one problem I do have, and I've heard others do to is with the autopilot. When you turn the aircraft using the heading bug sometimes, just over 90 degrees, sometimes the aircraft turns in the opposite direction. (ATC loves that!!). PMDG also has left one feature that many users feel is a neccessity and there has been much argument over out, and that's wing views. I personally don't think there needed, especially, since there is another way of getting them no thanks to PMDG, using DBS Walk and follow. However, I have to agree compared to other high quality payware aircraft, this is a feature that rather standard these day's and one that shouldn't have been left out. I can understand their argument on the affects on performance, but then how does that justify their virtual cabin? In the area, of Customer Service, LDS and Flight One wins hands down, with their 30 day money back gaurantee. PMDG's argument, they couldn't offer this with downloaded products due to fear of piracy, doesn't hold up. There are plenty of ways, to control this, one of the best, is the way Flight 1 handles this, with their key file. How you can tell somebody that buys your product, and can't use it because of problems with it on their systems, that they can't get their money back is nonsense. When an award as prestigious as the AVSIM awards are given out these issues, should be taken into consideration also. Will these issues be fixed. I'm sure the technical issues, will be, but until they are, I don't feel an award like this is warranted, especially when put against, a proven product like the LDS-767, especially when you consider the difference in price and what you get in each. Dollar for dollar the LDS-767 is a better value.

Thanks

Hello All, I'll have to stand with you on this one! Yes I think the PMDG is a nice offering, however, it is still buggy, incomplete and the Level D seems to work right time after time, every time.I won't get into a shouting match on awards and who should or shouldn't have gotten one, as it is all pretty subjective, but I will say, for the amount of problems the new "Queen" has, awards presently, are the last thing I THINK it should get. Perhaps AFTER it has the 'big' patch, it will be award worthy in my viewpoint, but not until then. Lastly, the AW B200 was a nice pick -- great little aircraft, and the DF 727 is about as close to 'real' as they come, but I guess that one didn't count . . . a shame.Just my, not so humble, 03 cents worth.Best to all, Clayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. Who actually decided that the PMDG 747-400 was better than the Level D 767-300ER? Was it done by voting? RH

Good question. I've never had a problem with the 744, but I'd have given the award to the 763 based solely on the level of support to-date.Doug

Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. Klaatu barada nickto.

This sort of reminds me of the Oscars....the films released closest to the time of the awards ceremony get the nod. In this case LevelD has been out for 4 months while PMDG has only been out for a month and perhaps the excitement of something new took over. I also wonder if the same thing happened to Flight1's ATR.Mark.

>Bob, there is a chance the computer that was running the>panel was not in the optimized resolution for the Level-D>panel. When it is set to this, it is very clear. I believe>this specific resolution is 1280 x 960.>>Just a thought...That could be,and probably I will wind up buying his aircraft eventually, especially considering all the happy users that are contributing to this thread.

Gary,is that after Service Pack 2? I haven't installed it yet since it right now causes havoc with my goflight equipment (which I'm sure Doyle will fix soon). But the main reason (besides ILS app sometimes misbehaving badly) why I've had a hard time flying the Level-D has been the IMHO bland 2D-looks. What you show here looks much much better than what I see on my system. :)
